All the pre-draft hype is focused on future superstar Adam Fantilli (NCAA? OHL? NB? Niagara?), but their was a reason we all wanted the IceDogs to pick 2nd. Niagara will not have problem drafting an elite player as they've recently done (e.g #5 P.Tomasino or #12 A.Thomas). This player at #2 will be the cornerstone of this rebuild, but this draft will be judged by the cumulative success of ALL 4 early round picks. IceDogs need to hit on those early rounds just like in the past:

Rd 1 Phil Tomasino or Akil Thomas
Rd 2 Dougie Hamilton
Rd 2 Carter Verhaeghe
Rd 3 Mark Visentin or Graham Knott
...add one later round gem:
Rd 6 Vince Dunn
Rd 10 Tucker Tynan
Rd 15 Blake Siebenaler

...and how other OHL teams have done with 2nd and 3rd picks:
A.Kaliyev, K.Washkurak, M.Vukojevic, J.Quinn, D.Busby, D.Chisholm, N.Serron, J.Ingham, SD-A, C.Hillis, R.Damiani, K.Bahl, D.Giroux, M.Heolscher, M.DiPietro, R.Thomas, J.Paquette, N.Hoenmayer, K.Maksimov, M.Entwhistle, J.Garreffa, B.Neumann, N.Schnarr, etc…

Just to clarify - selecting them with one of their 2nd round picks if that is possible. Not sure they will be there at 26 though.

Bring on the Fantilli brothers and the LeBlanc twins!!!
Thats my wishlist for this draft

Maddog, to have noticed the Leblanc twins, I'm assuming you have seen ST Admirals play a few times? First game I attended, Alfano was a standout. In the subsequent games, Alfano impressed, but also began to notice the twins – first Andrew and then Jacob. Any one of those three would be a great addition to this rebuild.

As for Luca Fantilli, he is an intriguing prospect. First noticed #41 Black (no clue who he was at the time), during 3 training camp games and Luca was noticeable, in the same way Dakota Betts was. Also, viewed an online KUA game and Luca played exceptionally well. Since leaving IceDogs’ camp, a lot of progress evident in his game. Luca has put up impressive offensive numbers (35GP – 13G – 29A – 42Pts) and managed to earn a scholarship with a respected NCAA hockey program (University of Michigan). Scoring the Fantilli Brothers would be a major win for the IceDogs.

Proper assessment and evaluation requires a player to be viewed a minimum of 5 times. My plan was to view all the OHL Cup games and post my personal Top 20 list (excluding US players with NCAA commitments). Unfortunately, I can’t really answer your question, since I’ve viewed some players a few times, some only once and some not at all. However, if the IceDogs have down their homework (viewed players dozens of times) it shouldn’t be difficult for them to sort out these Ontario born players into a TOP 10 and make a solid selection with the #2 pick.

Here are some names to watch for…. (# times viewed)
David Goyette LW/ C (5.10 / 155) Selects Hockey Academy - (1)
Ty Nelson RHD (5.08 / 155) Toronto Jr. Canadiens (GTHL) - (3)
Kocha Delic C (5.10 / 175) Toronto Titans (GTHL) – (3)
Paul Ludwinski C (5.11 / 160) Toronto Marlboros (GTHL) – (3)
Pano Fimis C (5.09 / 160) Toronto Jr. Canadiens (GTHL) – (3)
Cedrick Guindon C (5.09 / 155) Rockland Nationals (HEO) – (2) During the Olympic Youth games, he was outstanding.
Dalyn Wakely C (5.11 / 165) Quinte Red Devils (ETA) – (0)
Matthew Jovanovic LHD (6.01/185) Toronto Marlies (GTHL) – (3)
Isaiah George LHD (6.01 / 178) Toronto Marlboros (GTHL) – (1)
Bryce McConnell-Barker C (6.01 /161) London Jr. Knights (Alliance) – (0)
Zak Lavoie C (5.09 / 165) Toronto Young Nationals (GTHL) – (1)
Hunter Haight C (5.09 / 145) Elgin-Middlesex Chiefs (Alliance) – (0)
Donovan McCoy D (6.00 / 175) Quinte Red Devils (ETA) – (0)
Andrew Leblanc C (5.10.5 / 158) Southern Tier Admirals (SCTA) – (4)
Matthew Poitras C (5.10 / 150 ) Whitby Wildcats (ETA) – (0)
Sam Alfano C (6.03 / 181 ) Southern Tier Admirals (SCTA) – (4)

That would be a grand slam for the scouting staff. However, it’s reasonable to expect 3 of the 2004s to make the team this year and a couple more 2004s the following year.

I think that depends on how the roster looks at camp if it stays the way it is now (no trades or OAs deciding to just go to school) I don’t see them getting 4 on the roster playing next year

I think Theriault is the only guy you mentioned on the team for sure next year unless cook plays forward all year
