Never once said he wouldn’t be a superstar just said I wouldn’t call him a franchise player till he plays in the league and I’m not an idiot I know he’s still best guy available so I’d still take him

Retroactive scouting, that could catch on. Can we apply that same logic to lottery tickets?

DRAFT DAY NOTES

This is an unofficial list of 100+ players (includes NCAA commitments and GKs) to keep an eye on.
<>Goaltenders ranked amoung the top 10 GKs, odds are their name will be called relatively early.
<>Likewise, the top players with NCAA commitments are usually drafted in rounds 2-6.

This list is in NO WAY a final top 100+ draft ranking. MM playoffs and OHL Cup performances will result in a lot of players moving “in and out” of the Top 100, 50, 20 and 10.

OHL Cup (March 17-23 Scotiabank Pond / Mattamy Athletic Centre) performances will solidify some players top ranking and be an opportunity for the lesser known prospects to climb up the draft boards of individual OHL teams.

The OHL Cup is heavily scouted. It’s a “best on best” tournament so scouts are out in full force watching, assessing and evaluating every player.

Every year, players are drafted that were not initially on Top 20, 50 or 100 lists. Aside from the obvious top picks, every OHL team trusts and relies on the reports of their scouts to create their own draft board ranking for their day in the war room.

However, there is a reasonable chance that the next 4 IceDogs in this rebuild are on that list above (BOLDED names have been special guests at an IceDogs game).

I've had a chance to watch Niagara North twice and STA once in the last few weeks and there are a few big local wingers who are intriguing.

Sam Alfano who should go mid to late second round has the tools to be very good. Soft hands, good shot and vision. Future top line winger I would think.

Ethan Whitcomb who got an honorable mention in the top 150, I really liked. Isn't super physical but knows how to use his size and has good vision. Shot could use some work. If they could get him 5th round or later it would be a very good pick IMO.

Nathan Duplessis is a big strong winger with some real upside. He's raw but well worth a mid round pick.

Trent Swick is a big winger with a heavy shot. Didn't love his decision making and overall game in the one game I saw. His numbers are good and is really big and strong. He's been playing up the last few years and was more of a role player I would assume judging by his numbers. If you're going to miss, miss big. 4th round I'd take a flier.

Along Sam Alfano, the two other players on the ST Admirals that I am super high on are F- Andrew LeBlanc and his twin brother D- Jacob LeBlanc. Andrew’s hockey IQ and skills are immediately noticeable - a first line centre and Jacob will develop into a top 4 d-man.

Yes I was just reviewing some of the bigger wingers but I did like Andrew LeBlanc. Really good vision and hands but not great feet. He scored a beauty with 26 seconds left to win the game for STA when I was there. He was always in the middle of the action and on the right side of the puck. I think he will play and produce in the O but not sure about first line.

Jacob IMO was fine. Didn't really stick out either way.
