Then why purchase new players? If you really believe you have turkeys on the bench and no one wants to buy them, you don't spend heavily to augment a losing battle.

Either the ownership or management of the team had the idea that they could go "all in" this year because of the strength of the team. Clearly, this was not the case and a few of us here predicted it, but when all is said and done, someone has to own up to it.

We have assumed that Marty Williamson was the one making the call but Bill Burke is an involved owner and may have rolled the dice on this year. For all we know Marty was the one saying "don't do it boss" and if that was the case, it would be tough to dismiss the GM/Coach that followed your instructions.

Doesn't their best defencemen Miles Liberati play for Kitchener now?

Isn't Brian Brosnan Kit's best D-man right now?

He might be defensively, but he's missed half the season and he isn't half the player Liberati is with the puck.

It should be noted that in the Q, Shawinigan fired their head coach because the GM wasn't happy with the Cataractes' play of late. Mind you, the Cats are NOT bottom-feeders; they lead their division and are 4th overall in the league...and they made trades to get better.

So, if a good team can pull the trigger on a coaching change....

I'll leave you to do the math.
