Tomorrow should be point night with a back-up goalie between the pipes and a practice under their belt with proper line combinations.

There were lots of times these last few games when a chip shot would have made the difference on a goal. I can't figure out if this is laziness, lack of awareness, or thinking more about offense rather than protecting the defensive zone.

My dad and I were at the game tonight and after that first goal he pulled up your post in awe. I think if McGrath had been in the lineup tonight they might have put him in at that point but without the confidence in Sbaraglia yet, I think they were resigned that they would have to outscore a leaky goalie instead. Dhillon needs a night off where someone else wins and it pisses him off.

So if Tominsano is the player to blame for the goal that tied the game please rewatch the overtime goal where Thomas has no clue where to be or what player to shadow. Why is this kid out there in overtime when we now have better players to do that job.

Perfect timing for this conversation hotdog fan....

Our beloved team is a perfect 0-7 in overtime. Not a very good record.
We are over the half way mark of the season and in my opinion, our overtime style of play leaves a lot to be desired. No urgency what so ever.
Thoughts please

Agree, the IceDogs are HORRIBLE in overtime! But when the games really matter (playoff hockey), the OT will be 5 on 5 - then I want to see how what their record is.

This 3 on 3 OT hockey only tell us, that they suck at 3 on 3 hockey - for what it's worth!

I agree with you. Nothing this team does has any urgency to it right from the power plays to overtime. I just don't get why they keep putting him out there in such crucial times when there is never any hussle from him. He is not the star on this team all the time.

Because once the coach makes up his mind about a player, they ARE what he decided. A good coach reevalutes to see if a previously held belief holds. So early on it was decided Thomas was THE star and even though his play is off since his injury and better players have been brought in, Thomas is still a "go to" guy. I'm not saying he is a slouch but if you form your lines based on performance and execution then Thomas and Philip are playing too high.

I think the veteran players the Dogs just acquired should help the, well, if not urgency, then at least a sense of purpose as far as what they want to do with the puck, and execution of plays. Sopa, Lodnia, Robertson, plus the fellows from Oshawa: it just takes time. It almost felt like the season just started over last night, and now what we have is like a shortened season like the NHL likes to do every 6 or seven years or so.
It’s a race to ‘gel’. The Dogs should be winning games no problem from here on out, starting tonight. The Dogs should have a legit scoring threat on each line 1-4. They should even have some offensive threat on D. My gosh, look at the players they have now. It should start tonight. It’s like last night was Game 1.

I understand about the your our star point on this team. It is not hard to figure out. But Phillip and Thomas are 2 different style of players. Phillip is a quiet kind and goes about his business and does his job and Thomas is the flashy cocky type player that has to be in the spotlight with all his dippy doodle plays that go nowhere.
