I would take the risk on a guy like Lambert. If you get the feeling leading up to his draft that he will not be back, trade him for a big return.

He makes the team much better now, and you roll the dice. Either you have him for the 2022/23 season, or you have several picks from him to acquire another high end player while opening up an import spot.

Am I mistaken or is there a rule prohibiting teams from playing more than 3 16yr olds? Since we now have 4 high draft picks which JB says will make the team do we rotate a couple in for different games...can all 4 be on the roster? Also would that rule apply to the imports (so draft a high end 17 yr old as opposed to a 16 yr old)...please pardon my lack of knowledge on this (and on the latest draft after the original draft...I dont understand that either!)

Fishfan can answer your other question

As far as the latest draft it is a draft for kids already not good enough for the OHL ... and most of these kids won?t see any significant playing time in the OHL either

It is a waste of time IMO

Jacob Osborne is not effected by the OHL 16 year old rule, he is a year older than those 4 player we drafted on Saturday. Also, CHL teams cannot draft an 04 Import, the player has be 17 years or older

Teams can have a maximum of four 16-year-old players on their rosters. Those 16 year old players that are allowed to be signed are the first two 16-year-old players selected and a maximum of two additional 16-year-old players.

All other 16-year-old players selected are eligible to be called up for a maximum of 10 games or for an unlimited number of games when the player’s team has been eliminated for that season.

Curious what everyone else thinks... With a good draft position in the import draft, if they have the chance to upgrade on Chanton do they go for it or do they play safe and stick with what they have and only take one player

Definitely retain Giancarlo Chanton. He has great size (6.01 / 175), late 02 birthdate and will only be entering his draft year this season with the IceDogs. Giancarlo Chanton had a successful first season in the OHL and it didn't go completely unnoticed, as his name began to appear on a few online NHL scouting websites as a possible mid to late round pick. Amoung, the Top U-20 Swiss defenseman, Chanton was ranked 5th but also the youngest by 2 years in that top 5 group. As a 16 year old, he was the last defenseman cut by the 2020 Swiss World Junior team. With 3 defenseman (00s) graduating from that team, Chanton will most likely be getting top pairing minutes at the 2021 WJC.

Well not surprisingly, here's the answer… 2022 NHL Draft Top prospect Brad Lambert resigns with Helsinki IFK for 2 more years.
