With all due respect, are we watching the same power play?

It was bad yesterday but I was just pointing out that they’re the 5th ranked PP overall so it can’t be that bad realistically even with a few bad attempts and I expect the units to change now that they have D back

Last night was a measuring stick of how the Dogs stack up against a top Eastern Conference contender. IMO Ottawa has a stronger Club with more buying power to add players, wait till they load up at the trade deadline.

Power play one for five last night short handed goal the second they allowed. Ottawa got away with lot of crap tonight but they are a strong skating team and good at for check.Cody Clark should have been tossed.

The powerplay has success when teams sit back in a four man box against the Dogs. The Dogs move the puck around the outside slowly opening up a chance here or there. The Dogs powerplay is awful when teams force them. When teams go right at the Dogs, the player with the puck typically tries to make move and gets checked or forces a pass in panic. Either way they turn the puck over. Last night, half the time they couldn't get out of their own end on the PP because of Ottawa's relentless pressure.

Burke is doing himself no favors by complaining to the ref after almost every call. You can see them say it over and over again "enough". Stick up for your team here and there, but when you complain every time it falls on deaf ears.

Ottawa appears to be the Beasts of the East. That game wasn't nearly as close as the score indicated. They already appear better than the Dogs, add in that they have an overflowing treasure chest of draft picks they can use to add to this team. IMO, that's the team to beat. Right now, and hopefully things change, but the Dogs are more of a pretender than a contender.

You are correct on Niagara being 5th in the League on the power play. What we are not seeing is that our team scores on 22.7% of its chances..... and they have also coughed up two shorties along the way.

The top power play team at #1 is Guelph which scores on 35.5% of their chances

Of interest though is that Ottawa that is ranked #14th on the PP has given up 7 shorties.

In my opinion, 22.7% and 35.5% are not blow me away numbers.

On to Windsor now....

Well, that not really surprising is it? This site has a long history of going almost completely silent when the Ice Dogs are winning and gets lite up when they lose a few games.

IceDogs were beat by a better team last night – and Ottawa looked like the favourites to win the east.

So what if the next time, the IceDogs outplay and beat Ottawa - are the IceDogs then the favourites to win the East?

Completely agree with your assessment of the IceDogs PP. You would think that 5 very talented OHL players could be more effective on zone entry and puck movement to create high quality chances.

Last night, the PP with 7 minutes left in the game - was frustrating to watch!!! Puck possession, at least 3 or 4 good chance to shoot, but not a single shot taken! That was their chance to win the game.
