OHL Report: IceDogs learning new tricks
By Bill Sawchuk, The Standard

http://www.stcatharinesstandard.ca/2...ing-new-tricks

The IceDogs don’t appear to be interested. “I don’t think we will have to mortgage the future,” said Billy Burke, the IceDogs head coach. “We are highly competitive right now, and I know it’s tempting to pull the trigger on some of the deals Joey is lining up, but we like this group.

“We want to continue with them. We’ve had some success and we want these guys to carry us for the rest of the year. In the summer or the first half of next year, we will likely take a good hard look at what we need to put us over the top. We may make what I would call some minor deals, but I can’t see us changing the core of this team this year.”

So, it appears the next year is “all in” from reading between the lines. .

So, this is why I would like to see an upgrade that will not cost us the farm in the next few weeks. Someone who will make us a little bit better up front of on the D than what we are now.
A forward who would make our 2nd line better, by which a current second line player would drop to the 3rd line and the same scenario on the D. A player who would be an upgrade of our #3 and #4 D-man.
that would be a reasonable cost and it would mean one less player to be brought in next year.

I like Billy B. but, sometimes, he should keep his cards closer to his vest.
At the end of the day, Mom, Dad, Joey, Billy and the rest of the staff will make a decision on the best way to go..

Once again.
Merry Christmas to all and drive safely and please call a cab if you have had too much to drink.

I donít think you get what you are asking for without giving up close to the farm at least from an east team because everyone is in contention for the playoffs and most will believe they can do something in the playoffs

I will not be overly disappointment if my wish is not granted, but, It's Christmas and one never knows.
When people, in my experience keep saying that nothing will happen, 6 times out of 10, surprised.
Anyway, all good either way.

The fans in Niagara appear to like our team this year, as the attendance numbers are up from last year's team.
And last year's team's numbers were way higher that our Championship team.

All is good.

They should unload some little Burke’s for a couple of 2nd’s if they can. Need some currency for a couple Good OG’ers.

Maybe the Leafs send us Lindgrim to us after the Worlds Junior that will be a nice Christmas gift.

A players who is both an OA and Import next year traded for less (mid-round pick), since a teams is not likely to keep a player taking up two spots?

D- Adam Thilander (NB), F - Albert Michnac (Miss) and F - Renars Krastenbergs (Osh) are three examples.
