Game Thread Kingston Frontenacs @ Niagara IceDogs - Friday, 2018.09.28 - 7pm

Niagara IceDogs:
5th in the East after 2 game with 2 points, 1-1-0-0 or 0.500%
Scoring: Thomas 1-4, Jones 2-2, Lodnia 2-1
Goaltending: Incze 1GP, 4.19GAA(19th), 0.879%(10th)

Kingston Frontenacs:
4th in the East after 2 games with 4 points, 1-1-0-0 or 0.500%
Scoring: Robertson 3-0, Neumann 1-2, Derungs 1-1
Goaltending: Bonello 2GP 3.00GAA (10th), 0.908% (13th)

Last night the 5th ranked CHL team took a first rate schooling from their hosts, the Peterborough Petes. Time to stop reading about a potential future and start making some history. The IceDogs looked like a disorganized collection of individuals, not a team. Here's hoping the bus ride back to Niagara and an invigorating home town crowd is enough to cause a reset. Let's see 60 minutes of strong hockey and a win!

On a positive note, tonight's opening game will have the highest attendance number for a home opener since our first season at the Vault.
And, there are still a few hours remaining for sales until puck drop

This information is incorrect on my part as the very first home game against Belleville was played in front of a sellout crowd of 5300. In October of 2014

PAST, PRESENT and FUTURE

Before they were the Frontenac, Kingston’s junior team was known as the Canadians and the Raiders. Named after Louis de Buade de Frontenac (Governor of New France) - Fort Frontenac was established on the site of present-day Kingston.

With former IceDogs' star Luca Caputi returning to Niagara (Fronts Associate Coach), good chance we see a Caputi jersey at the game. IceDogs nemesis Jeremy Helvig has moved on to pro hockey – good for him and us!

FRONTS KEY PLAYERS
99 Robertson, Jason (DAL) Coming off back-to-back 40 plus seasons.
99 Neumann, Brett
99 Paquette, Jacob (NASH)
99 Jakob Brahaney

Until the day Kingston completes their fire-sale (Robertson and Paquette), the Fronts will remain a competitive team.

Hockey is finally back @ The Vault.

Noticed that Bruder was moved to the 3rd line (LW in place of Castleman) for the latter part of the third period.

I don’t think it matters who the Dogs are playing. They’ll get smoked playing against anyone in this league, playing like they did last night. A way better effort is needed tonight. Having said that though, the Dogs had numerous scoring chances foiled by the puck hopping over the stickblade last night, or so it sounded like on radio. Peterborough, on the other hand, was the direct beneficiary of at least one of those puck-bounces.
So it’s kinda both: sometimes you just don’t get the bounces, and other times you do, and the game looks really easy.

Not sure of the numbers, but IIRC historically the Dogs don't fair well in their home openers. However, tonight they get possibly the worst team in the league in Kingston.

Dogs 6-2

Does anyone know if Hamm or Hunter will be fit to return for this game? Hopefully the players will be up for this game in front of their home crowd. I think Dillion will be back in net as Incze did nothing to impress me last night. Go Dogs Go.

Ham is day to day so maybe, but Hunter is week to week so definitely not.
