According to this Standard article. Our second round pick Kevin He came down to St. Catharines after he was picked.

Quote:
He drove down with his father from Nobleton, Ont., after the IceDogs selected him with their second pick in the draft. After meeting coaches and scouts, He had his picture taken wearing a team jersey standing beside director of scouting Roger MacLeod

Very little mentioned about Dickinson's being absent.

It will be a win-win situation for the Ice Dogs.
if he's a defected player next year we get #5 pick plus a additional pick at end of the 2nd round..icedogs had 3 defected players Logan brown #6 in 2014.....Adam Bateman #19 2011 and Lucas Lessio #7 2009

I would think he’s probably waiting to see how much of the gong show gets cleaned up over the summer. As of now, ownership is in the air, coach, GM are non existent. Why would/should he pretend everything is ok here?

The fact that he “wasn’t available” for comment is kind of commenting on it’s own right.

Am I missing something or was the North York Rangers a particularly exceptional team this year since we picked five players from that team. Were we short of scouts for other locations or did we hone in on these guys because of their talents?

I believe the Burkes own a stable close to North York

It looks like at this point Dickinson isn’t too happy being drafted by the IceDogs.

https://www.bpsportsniagara.com/iced...-day-of-draft/

Dickinson, who hails from Toronto, did not appear Friday or Saturday.

“Those are decisions the players and agents have,” IceDogs interim coach Jody Hull said. “At the end of the day it’s still a long summer and we feel he could still be a huge part of our future. He’s that type of defenceman. We just hope over time and maybe getting a better understanding of the direction will make his decisions a lot easier.”

So we get our own 1st rounder plus the #5 as a 'compensation'? And we gave up a 2nd in 22, a 3rd in 22, a 4th in 22 & a 4th in 24 for Aidan Castle when we also drafted Fimis? Got us a 1st rounder at a highish cost, no?

Seems like any organization would 'stratagize' to get 2 first rounders when entering a rebuilding phase, no?

How did any of our defected player compensations work out?

The strategy is sound, I could even see two teams conspiring to rig the deck together - it is almost like trading a first-round pick.

On the Lessio Defection, I believe Niagara got Luke Mercer and Jesse Graham.

On the Bateman Defection, Niagara got Aaron Haydon and Brook Hiddink.

On the Brown defection, Niagara got Ben Jones and Hayden Davis (Who was traded to get Maximov)

How any of these worked out is subject to differing opinions on the players involved.
