I have heard so many people say that they believe the Icedogs will have a much better record under DeDobbelaer and Fitzgerald then the Icedogs had under the Burke brothers. But I really don't see any evidence to support that.

As GM for 5 seasons, Joey Burke had a winning percentage of 0.479. DeDobbelaer has been the Owner/GM of the Brantford 99ers (Jr. A) and the Brantford Bandits (Jr. B) for a combined 12 seasons. His combined winning percentage for both teams is a dismal 0.286. If we just look at his winning percentage for his 4 seasons with the Brantford 99ers, his winning percentage is 0.370. Those are awful numbers. If he wasn't the owner of those teams, do you think he would still be the GM of those teams?

As head coach of the IceDogs, Billy Burke had a respectable winning percentage of 0.496. Dan Fitzgerald in his 3 seasons as head coach of the Brantford 99ers had a winning percentage of 0.460. If we include his 2 seasons as head coach of the Cambridge Jr. B team and 1 season as head coach of the Dundas Jr. C team, his winning percentage improves to 0.484. While that is not awful, its not great either.

I just don't see any reason to feel good about the recent GM/Coaching changes. For me, I think we actually may be taking a step backwards.

However, the team will have a better record this season than they did last season. But that would happen no matter who the GM and coach is. The team was very young last season and this season will be a year older. As well, the trades DeDobbelaer made will improve the team this year. Unfortunately it will hurt us in the future as 13 draft picks were traded away to acquire those 5 players.

Usually when you trade away 13 draft picks you are "going for it." However, with the Icedogs, going for it this year means we are going for a 0.500 record because we are still no where good enough to win the conference. Is trading away our future worth it to finish with a few more wins this season?

Stop preaching to the choir ?- me!

Ah yes but many on here want the dogs to have a competitive season this year. Apparently at an embarrassingly high cost.

We now have very little trade ammunition to augment our lineup with stars if we become a contender year after this year.

He made trades thinking about the cash register this year not about potential trophies to win the year after

Shame shame

Will they not get some picks back if Dickinson does not report and if the season goes sideways we can always trade the overages.
