Kirill Maksimov: A Thrilling Oilers Prospect
By Shane Sander January 22nd, 2018

https://thehockeywriters.com/kirill-...lers-prospect/

Yamamoto might be the headliner, but dont let him overshadow the accomplishments of two others. One is Ostap Safin; another is Kirill Maksimov.

So wheres his upside? Its early to say, but the high end could be that Maksimov ends up being a top-six forward.

Ive seen him a couple of times and know the other (scouts) have seen him. Hes got a great shot. He gets penalty kill time, which is good. Hes learning the two-way game, so I like that part of his game. One of his knocks was his skating.

Last 3 games Maksimov looks scared to shoot? Twice last night he had a great open lane and looked to pass? Not sure why a natural sniper would do that? Jones pretty much always looks to pass - but Miletic, Maksimov and Singer can all shoot the puck so well. Maksi looks like he is over-thinking it.

In my opinion, Maxsimov has not been the same go-to-guy that he was prior to the suspension. He needs to move on from sitting and get back on the horse again and be the horse as well.
Go Maxi Go and shoot the one timer!!!

Not slagging on Militec because he has played well but interesting stat since the trade to get him. The team has won 5 games and lost 12. Not exactly a run to a division championship people thought the trade would provide. On the other hand since London traded Militecc along with PU and Jones they have gone 9 and 7. Better record and lots of picks and young players going forward. That is why they continue to win - they know when to hold them and when to fold them

I like the idea of giving teams a choice to retain 2 more OA, or 2 Imports which was also put forth in the article. I'm not a fan of the Import Draft. I'd like to see those spots go to an older NA skater who will have a chance to have eyes on him.
