Default Kirill Maksimov

What are your feelings on Maksimov not playing for the Ice Dogs last weekend but playing for Russia Thursday and Monday. Other OHL players seemed to represent their home club and still play in this series.

I thought it was stupid that they let him stay with the team and not come bacm to play with the ice dogs. Those games mean nothing anyway. He is already drafted and would of been better off with us.

I didn’t like it but if other OHL players did the same thing then at least we weren’t the only team missing someone the Russian team should play by the same rules as the CHL if a players club team has a game between the games he has to go back

I could be wrong but I’d be surprised if it was an IceDog decision especially with Akil out BUT if for some reason the team let him stay that tells me they aren’t worried about the results of 1 weekend and or they think he’s got a good shot to make the Russian team for the WJC so he stayed to learn how they want to play

I too would have liked to have Maksimov this past weekend.

I thought I heard Billy (during his Monday interview on radio) say that the Russians felt that Maksi was really close to making the team for the World Junior Tournament and they wanted him to stay with the club while in Ontario.

I could be wrong though.

I also believe that Maksi would like nothing better than to make the World Junior team and participate during the holidays. It was probably a dream of his.
It may not have been important to us, but to him, It was a big deal. A chance to play for his home Country

I donít remember him saying anything about it on radio other than mentioning our guys played in the first game and yes Maksi and anyone else would probably love making one of those teams

I was of the understanding that he was born here but has dual citizenship. Hence his HOME country would be Canada

I have always been under the impression that he could pick either country to play for but once he played for them he could no longer play for the other team. I could be wrong and I am sure someone on here will be able to answer that question.
