Why did he leave? The last posting from Blacksox that I saw was an overly optimistic assessment of the team and some disagreed with his post. Is that why he left?
The purpose of a discussion forum is the discuss and debate. There is nothing wrong with disagreeing with others as long as your respectful. But if someone can’t handle others challenging what you post them maybe participating in a discussion forum is not right for you.

There was also the suggestion that as both moderator and person disagreeing with him that I had over-stepped my bounds. Although over the years many people had disagreed with my opinions on things the only consequence for them was being right about 51% of the time. I join in discussions here to learn things and very occasionally to teach as well. So the fallout for me personally was finding someone else to just be the moderator and not post as a fan, while I post as a fan and not worry about offending people by also being moderator. Worked out well for me, I gained a few hours a week not preparing banners, and I can be my usual grumpy self.

The assessment was certainly overly optimistic and in hindsight looks to be quite wrong ? the detractors seem to have been on the right side of history. It was constructive criticism and he did not like it so he left.
It is too bad as he contributed a lot to the forum I will be the first to admit that. But if this were merely a place to wave Pom poms I would have left a long time ago! Hey Nicedawg where were you guys on Saturday night? Our row was incredibly empty on Saturday night!? Off to the sunny climes again? Hope so! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
