I didn’t realize that one of these “Pre-OHL Priority Draft” videos was completed for Isaac Enright in 2019. The coaches and scouts pre-draft assessment was quite accurate… |

Giancarlo's Great Motivation (Season 4 - 4/6) Giancarlo Chanton is the haven of calm in the U18 Switzerland ice hockey team. He left home early for his dream and has been playing for a Canadian youth team since last summer. The defender is determined to pursue his dream of winning the Stanley Cup one time. NOTE: The majority of the documentary is presented in Swiss German (except parts from coaches, trainers and billets). It provides an interesting behind-the-scenes look at Chanton’s pursuit of a hockey dream – the IceDogs impressive training facility, Swiss National team camp, family support, home life (Canada and Switzerland), the OHL – along with the highs and lows of Chanton’s first year in Canada. Unfortunately, to really grasp the entire story being told – you would need to understand the language. Sharing this anyways, for those who may in fact speak the language, but also because the visual story being told may be of some interest to some. |

TUCKER TYNAN
Surprisingly, draftsite.com still has Tucker being drafted in the 5th round. Coming off that devastating injury, I’d be shocked if he’s drafted this year, however, he is still young enough that he can use this season to re-establish what he started for himself last year. https://ohlwriters.me/2020/04/06/tuc...layer-profile/ Posted on April 6, 2020 NHL Central Scouting didn’t have him on either of their Players to Watch lists, though he soon started garnering attention. Up until that moment (injury), every bit of attention Tynan was getting was warranted. He was among the league leaders in most goaltending stats, including shots faced. Tynan, quite simply gave the IceDogs a chance to win every game. We here at OHLW have a lot of admiration for Tynan, one of the youngest goalies available for the draft. Sure, the injury hurt his draft stock, but we believe in him, and think someone should take a late round flier at the draft, but we also believe his potential is better than a late round flier. Some high praise for Tucker from some respected OHL scouts on TWITTER... https://twitter.com/BrockOtten/statu...44849380016128 Tony Ferrari @theTonyFerrari · I loved his game this year! He took a real step before the injury and I had him as my top-NA goalie with Commesso and Garand right close. I’m hoping to see him back in action and back to form soon! OHL Prospects @BrockOtten · He really was sensational for the Dogs this year. Tucker Tyan was remarkable in shootouts – a perfect 6 for 6. Great news! Alec Leonard is an exciting player to watch play. It will be fun to watch him mature and develop in the coming years.
https://niagaraicedogs.net/article/s...to-the-icedogs “Alec is a guy we targeted all year long and was in our draft board top 10 all season. Alec combines the speed and awareness you need to succeed at our level, with great defensive prowess and a mean physical side to his game.” There were a few other players that I was surprised to see available in the 2nd round – Alex Leonard was one of them. Thescout.ca and Ontario Draft Hub both had Leonard as a 1st round selection - prospectpipeline had him #!8 amoung Canadian players. After Adam Fantilli, hockeyprospect.com had #7 Fimis and #9 Leonard as the top two Canadian born players on their Final Ranking Draft Board. |

2020 OHL Priority Selection: Five to Watch
Alec Leonard (RD) – Mississauga Reps (GTHL) OHL Central Scouting: Alec is an elite level skater that uses his speed to his advantage on every shift. He is explosive off the mark and has great edge control and excellent mobility. He always has his head up, looking to move the puck up ice. He likes the stretch pass but can also make the simple play as well. He is always looking to follow up his pass, get up ice and be that second wave of offense that is hard to defend against. He is very active all over the ice and is a constant threat when he is on. He is an elite offensive-minded defenseman with big upside. |

RYAN STRUTHERS
THE HOCKEY NEWS: Future Watch 30 prospects to watch for the OHL draft https://thehockeynews.com/news/artic...-the-ohl-draft Ryan Struthers, F (Oakville Rangers). A big, speedy center, Struthers moved over to the Rangers this season from the Halton Hurricanes and immediately made an impact. He always has his head moving in order to find a teammate on the rush, and while he isn’t a big-time goal scorer, his speed and ability to get creative with the puck will catch your eye. He’s the type of player that does enough things right with the puck that you wouldn’t be afraid to give him significant ice time. New Faces Make Their Mark in the Rankings By OHL Central Scouting https://www.omha.net/news_article/show/1055342 Players to Watch Ryan Struthers (Oakville Rangers) - Struthers is an intelligent forward who can be relied upon to make the right play. He has high hockey IQ, allowing him to read and react well in all three zones. In the defensive zone he comes deep and helps out his defencemen making himself a constant option. When he gets the puck he can use his skating to carve through the neutral zone to get numerous zone entries. Inside the offensive zone, Struthers keeps defenders off balance as he can use his vision to find his teammates or use his strength to take pucks to the net. He will continue to be a handful for opposing teams and a great leader for his team going forward. hockeyprospect.com STRUTHERS, RYAN C – Oakville Rangers (OMHA) 6’0” 165 Ryan is a center with good vision that plays the game with pace and is always around the puck. His skating technique and edgework are one of the most intriguing parts to his game as he employs the new age 10-2 skating style. He’s solid at the faceoff dot, winning draws at a consistent rate. Defensively he’s sound, but at times will look to move to offense before his defensive task is complete. Ryan plays this year earned him a call up to the Oakville Blades in the OJHL, which should have given him a taste for what he’ll need to do in order to be successful at the next level. thescout.ca Throughout this season, he has evolved his play style from an average first line player in Oakville to an elite player at the level of competition within the SCTA. He elevated his game to become a deadly goalscorer off the rush and a quick one-time shooter on the power plays. Struthers could reach the next level as a powerful skater and a great shooter from both the perimeter and slot. |
