Game Thread Sudbury Wolves @ Niagara IceDogs - Saturday, 2017.10.28 - 7pm

HALLOWEEN HOME GAME

Niagara IceDogs:
3rd in the East after 12 games with 17 points (7-2-2-1) 0.708%
Skaters: Thomas 5G 10A, Jones 6G 6A, Maksimov 5G 6A (no change since last game)
Goalie: Dhillon 11GP, 2.53GAA (5th), 0.912%

Sud-Boo-ry Wolves:
9th in the East after 13 games with 10 points (4-7-2-0) 0.385%
Skaters: Sokolov 8G 6A, Rhodes 6G 6A, Levin 5G 6A
Goalie: McGrath 9GP, 3.98GAA, 0.880%

Although it is the Halloween game, the Niagara fans are hoping for more treats than tricks. In the first meeting with Sudbury, the IceDogs were defeated 5-2. This is an entirely winnable game if Niagara stays focused on the basics. The point leaders Thomas, Jones and Maksimov were each held off the scoreboard in their last contest which featured more failed high-light reel attempts than easy successes. Coaches need to get players to simplify their games - less dazzle more results. This team has all the pieces in place to defeat Sudbury handily and score plenty of ghouls.

If the team plays the way they are capable I’ll say 5-1 dogs win if they don’t 4-2 loss

I say IceDogs pay them back with a 5-2 win of their own balancing the scales of Karma...

Also, would be nice to have our first sell out this early in the season.

Hopefully lines are not picked using Marty Williamson's old BINGO machine...

Any thoughts on who watches from the press box for this one?

I say ‘effort’. Effort will determine who wins this game. If the Dogs want the two points, they have to prove it. On every shift. Every line. This team has the talent to win as many games as they want to. Effort in the defensive zone to get that puck off opposition sticks and up to the forwards who have the talent to bury it.
‘show up on time’, as Mike Babcock likes to say. Don’t sit back, get that first goal! Philip Tomasino can be a star in this League, but he has to WANT IT. F—ing Dog that puck. Get it at the net. Let’s do this.

We are due for a point extravaganza: 8-1 Dogs.

I'm not directing the Niagara Men's Chorus to sing O Canada tonight so hopefully we will win. I've been trying to get them to sing for 10 years and we finally did. However, our first singing of O Canada the Dogs choked and lost 5-1. On the upside, my son got to high-five all of the Wolves players and one of them gave him an Ice Dogs puck so he had a GREAT evening and got to yell "Who Cares!" We almost won the pizza from Big Marco's too but I put the wrong section and the people who won it were thoroughly confused.
