True enough, they’re not getting killed, but the Soo is just a way, way better team.

2 shorties and a 4-1 score? Yeah the Dogs won't be sitting on the ride back.

The final score was definitely a blessing for our Ice Dogs as they were easily out hustled and out muscled by the Sault Greyhounds. I knew we had some speed this year, but the Greyhounds have speed to burn out there. They were consistently beating us to the puck and with their bigger guys cycling that puck down low with ease. Dhillion made some outstanding saves tonight to keep the score respectful. There is no illusion why the Greyhounds are ranked in the top ten in the CHL. This was a classic example of a more experienced team toying with a younger , less experienced club. They did all of this with two of their top defenseman serving suspensions. We need some work for sure. Our defense has got to get to the pucks quicker and get them out or they are going to be forechecked back into the 60s every game. We need some work for sure. Go Dogs Go !!!

Not the beating I was expecting from a far better team than us.
It was interesting for a period and a half, but, it was just a matter of time against a nationally ranked team.

nearsighted; a team can be as well prepared as possible and still be beaten; the leafs have an "experienced " coach who makes 6 million annually; do they win every game?

You maybe right...

Toronto Sun
Terry Koshan

ST. LOUIS — There are no official records kept by the National Hockey League for ugliness. Easy to assume, however, that the Maple Leafs set one on Saturday night at the Scottrade Center.

The Leafs couldn’t have ended a four-game trip much worse, falling 6-4 against the St. Louis Blues. Toronto dragged its collective tail home with six losses in its past eight games, including in three of the four on this trip.

“We were sitting pretty good a week ago or 10 days ago or however long it was and now we have to get back on track and get these things fixed up and get some swagger back in our game.”

Opportunistic' Greyhounds take advantage of IceDogs mistakes
By Bernd Franke, Postmedia News

http://www.stcatharinesstandard.ca/2...edogs-mistakes

The sixth-ranked junior hockey team in North America wasn't the only foe the Niagara IceDogs faced Saturday night in Sault Ste. Marie. A flu bug going through the team kept veteran defencemen Elijah Roberts and Johnathon Schaefer out of the lineup. Two players who did see action in Niagara's second road game in northern Ontario in as many nights became sick between periods.

“Definitely a gutsy effort against the sixth-ranked national team, but we're a hurting team right now,” head coach Billy Burke said. “Guys came in and they battled,” Burke said. “A couple of mistakes cost us.”

Allowing a shorthanded goal, the coach said, can knock the wind out of a team's sails. “It's not good, it's discouraging,” Burke said.

Burke said the priority right now is to take two days off to get healthy and then get ready to play a “huge game” against Barrie.
