Or they can play a position instead of all 4 players going at the puck carrier.

Our beloved team has played 56 games so far.
Our Powerplay and Penaltykill both suck big team.
They will not get corrected. If it would have been fixed by now.

Our power play units are too busy trying for highlight reel goals and our penality kill units are only concerned about scoring shorties.
Over and out...
our power play is ok # 2 in league our pk needs to be fixed big time

For example, take away those two shorties last week against Sudbury, and maybe there is a way there.

Of all the things that can be fixed, the PK should be the easiest. It requires the least amount of talent - proper structure, a desperate mindset and little bravery gets it done!

Fixing the shorties should be very easy. All you need to do is have your head in the game, know where you are on the ice and seeing where your mates are. No silly soft and sloppy passes without looking.

End of my rant here.

I completely agree with you - fixing the shorties is not that difficult. They have shown they can score - just need stay focused the entire time. The Ice Dogs PK is the major concern - they can defend and score on 5 v 5 hockey - and they do have the 2nd most effecient PP in the OHL. Get the PK operating and this team can win playoff games.

And leave the line combinations as they are - except Sopa back with Studnicka and Robertson. His one and only game there was impressive!

I have been screaming that all year. Niagara sits back and lets the other team dictate the play, hoping to be the lucky recipient of the puck on their stick after blocking a shot and have enough strength left to clear the zone. The IceDogs are a fast team (so we keep hearing) yet when it comes to killing penalties they stand still until inevitably the puck goes in the net. The standard box or triangle have their limits in containing offence. A good coach needs to educate his players on pressing the offence.

Junior hockey is a game of mistakes. If you take away time and space by challenging the opposing player who has the puck you will force a turn-over as they ditch the puck and make that inevitable mistake. Surely they have plenty of video of other teams doing just that to Niagara when they are on the power play, turn it around.

Having 4/5 forwards doesn't mean only one person thinks about the back half of the ice. Team defense needs to be the focus, but this team was built solely on offence.
