6 foot 2 at that age. He could still grow another inch or two and that would make him a monster on the blue line.
Our future defense is looking real good.

<>Signing 3 goalies with upside: 02 Sbaraglia, 02 Tucker and 03 Rosenzweig <>Selecting a high skill RH D-man in 03 Isaac Enright. <> Making a trade to acquire a 3rd rd pick to acquire another RH D-man 03 Landon Cato. <>Drafting a highly-touted 02 Import LH Giancarlo Chanton (with a late birthday). All these moves clearly indicate they have a well thought out plan for this rebuild. And with comments like… brash confidence aggressive timing and physicality makes thunderous hits an intimidating defenceman plays a physical style alongside his unwavering competitive edge Not afraid to stand up for himself or a teammate plays an in-your-face style possesses great size and strength that he utilizes to punish opponents hits hard in the corners …hard to imagine Cato being anything but himself on the ice. |

I really like these picks this summer, being the players mentioned above.
I have to remind myself that they are all very young. it is easy to shine while playing players of your own age, but, playing in the OHL is a totally different animal altogether. They will be playing against 18, 19 and 20 year old players and our boy will have a lot of growing pains as they learn how to play in this league. There will be many many ups and downs this season. I am really looking forward to watching this team grow up together. |

Certainly goes against the opinion of several people here who think the Burkes are useless. ![]()

In addition to tilting the surface of the ice, the Burkes must, must, must enforce that "team first" mentality. I don't want want to see an homage to any one single player. I'd rather it didn't get any more granular than a line. We have Phil Tomasino to thank for this lesson, make him work as hard as he can every game. |

With the core of the back end being put together first – a different approach is evidently their plan. 02 Uberti, 02 DeSimone, 02 Sims and 02 Snow already signed: IceDogs have Paquette, Thomas and Tomasino – they can eventually convert into a pair of high scoring 03s (and trade assets) to be the core of their future offense. This rebuild plan does give fans a reason to be cautiously optimistic.

FUTURE STAR PROFILE #3: GIANCARLO CHANTON
Sven Helfenstein (Helpstone Sport Consulting Ice hockey agent Zürich, Switzerland) https://instagramwebs.com/p/BzOCkvDi1dg A big thank you to the organization of the Niagara Ice Dogs, especially to their GM Joey Burke for giving him (Giancarlo Chanton) this chance. Giancarlo Chanton SUI (#5 White) Source: bpsports (GM Joey Burke) Giancarlo is an extremely complete defencemen, as a high-end left shot 02 defenceman. This is a guy who has captained team Switzerland, was a top pair guy on their u18 this past season competing against guys like Tomasino, and holding his own. He is a late birth 02 who is highly touted for his draft year. Source: https://www.eliteprospects.com/draft-center/2021 NHL Draft Center 2021 <>124 players listed (Preliminary Projected first 4 rounds of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft) <>Giancarlo Chanton listed NOTABLE PROSPECTS Source: ohlprospects Niagara selected a Swiss defender who looks like he could be a quality addition. A late birthday who is not eligible until the 2021 NHL draft, Chanton served as the captain of the Swiss U17 program this year and played at the U18's as well (one of only two defenders to do so, along with Acadie-Bathurst 3rd overall pick Noah Delemont). Source: Thomas Roost (NHL Scout for Central Scouting SUI, GER, EUR, EHC Biel-Scout) Giancarlo Chanton is probably the best SUI d-men of his age-group – and I like him even more than Noah Delémont (#3 CHL Import Draft). Chanton is good in transition, good puck-mover, solid passer and also has the eye for the spectacular break-out pass. He is pretty smart and usually makes the right decisions. This is the year we sell. Anyone who can fetch value in a trade has to go, and by that I mean real value not the pocket-picking trades we have seen. If there isn't a decent return, we are better off keeping them.
