Am I missing something?
For a minute here, forget about the points. I repeat, forget about the points.

There are 4 teams in the OHL that missed the playoffs.

Those 4 teams get the first four picks in the draft. Points DO NOT MATTER!

If you made the playoffs, the earliest you can pick is 5th.

The teams that missed the playoffs, pick before any team that made the playoffs.

Regardless of points.

Group 2 is all the teams that made it to the playoffs.

Group 1 is arranged by points first, 1-4 and Group 2 is arranged by points second 5-20. That is the draft order.

Hockey Prospects final draft rankings Top 10. This is not a mock draft, this is their rankings of the top 10 kids available for the draft.

9 MURRAY, Blake Whitby Wildcats C 6.01.5* 177
10 TOMASINO, Philip Mississauga Rebels C 5.10.25* 164

In the final release of HockeyProspect.com’s 2017 OHL Draft Rankings, the Toronto Marlboros’ Jack Hughes has run the table and has remained our number one ranked prospect all season long. HockeyProspect.com’s Ryan Yessie on Hughes, “His speed, quickness, hockey sense and his ability to create offense, amongst other things, has helped him maintain the top spot in our final rankings. Whether Hughes takes the OHL route or the USNTDP route, he will be an immediate impact player for his team.”

High skilled forward Alex Turcotte maintained the second spot on our rankings. Alex has been ranked second overall on our lists has all season long.

Johnny Beecher takes the third spot on our ranking. Action with the TPH team at the OHL Cup and USNTDP Selection Camp allowed him to play a more free wheeling game than with his club team and it helped show off his strong skating and skill.

Sitting fourth on our list is Ryan Suzuki. Ryan is the creative offensive forward for the top ranked team in Ontario going into the OHL Cup, the London Jr. Knights.

Rounding out the top five is Case McCarthy of the Buffalo Jr. Sabres U16 team. Case has moved up one spot on our list this time around. Tag Bertuzzi from the Oakland Jr. Grizzlies U16 program dropped one spot to number six. “It was a very close call, but multiple viewings at the end of the season allowed us the opportunity to make this slight adjustment. Both players played extremely well in our viewings.” Yessie explained.

Number seven on our list is Michael Vukojevic, a defenseman for the Mississauga Rebels. Michael has good two-way upside. He’s a big physical defender who moves the puck well and can contribute at both ends of the ice. He is currently committed to the University of Michigan.

Would love to be a fly on the wall in some of the skull sessions taking place Re: the 3 drafts we have this year. I think that the IceDogs need to address their lack of size and strength. But they could also benefit from taking the best available player in the moment.

I always wonder exactly how these discussions sound. Is there dissent among the brain trust, or are they all basically on the same page? Would be very interesting to hear what ideas they are tossing around. Do you draft Hughes just to keep him from mysteriously reporting to London and hope you can talk him into reporting? Do you draft Tag Bertuzzi if Suzuki is available? Do you forgo taking a Forward, and look for a big nasty D-man?
