It's rare, but it has happened at least once (can't remember the details). Tough to pick the starts in that game. So many to choose from.

Oleksiak was +7 and is showing 4 points
Aggie +4, a hat trick and 2 shorties
Freeze +4, 2 goals and 5 points
Vis with another shutout (low shot count)
and of course Ryan with a super strong game

I am sure others could be added to the list for their accomplishments.

So basically it goes like this:

1st Star - Dickiest Hardest Worker of the Game
2nd Star - 1st Star
3rd Star - 2nd Star
"4th" Star - 3rd Star

Stupid stupid stupid.
Why does it have to mean it is the first star? Why not the fourth star? Because you work hard doesn't make you a star of the game. Doan works his butt off every game and can get the hardest worker every night IMO. That doesn't make him a star of the game.

A player scores 3 goals and 3 assists making him the first star, a player that works hard and pots a goal gets the hardest worker (4th star) not the other way around.

Proof of that is when they name the 3 stars they go from third to second to first. They announce the hardest worker before they even get to the stars. They don't name the three stars and then the hardest worker. Basically they save the "best" for last. (the 1st star)

Icedogs were firing on all cylinders last night. You can inter change the hardest working player and the 3 stars in any order you want depends on the way you saw it. Any of them could be 1st star without much argument.

Hey, I couldn't make it to the game tonight and had the TV on before I went out, and wasn't really paying attention to it, but what was the opening presentation for?

First of all they introduced a new show on local radio, then they honoured Aggy and Fries. for their 5 years as Icedogs

I don't think the stars criteria should in any way be based only on point production. The person who plays the best game could end up with zero points. 1st star should be the player who plays the hardest, regardless of point production.

To fix all this they should announce 3rd star, then 2nd star, then "The Dickies hardest working player of the game and 1st star is..."

.. just make the 1st star the Dickies Hardest Worker of the game award.

Still disagree. Again, just because a player works hard it doesn't make him a star of the game. I think everyone would agree that Doan works hard every shift of every game. Quite possibly the hardest working player in the league, but rarely do I think he would/should be the "first star".

Add the fact that the hardest worker only goes to the home team.
