Windsor is a good team. Had a good year.

Perhaps it is the extra rest? Home crowds?

They took London to seven games, who took Erie to overtime in game seven, who went on to win the OHL title. The difference between the top 5 teams in the West was minimal. I remember reading someone say, they wouldn't be surprised if Windsor went out in the first round then won the Memorial Cup.

More surprising is how poor the Q and W clubs have been thus far.

I think it may be that the OHL teams are just too good. I think the Q and WHL are more evenly distributed while in the OHL the top teams are loaded. Let's face it, the top 5 teams in the west were head and shoulders better than any other OHL team. That makes for a boring season but pays off at the memorial cup.

Well folks, the 2016-2017 junior hockey season all comes down to tonight. Erie takes on Windsor for the Memorial Cup in an "All Western Conference OHL" battle. Windsor beat Erie 4-2 in their last match up but can they do it again?

Considering Seattle went 16-4 and Saint John went 16-2 in their respective league payoffs to reach the Memorial Cup. I would argue just the opposite, that those teams were obviously far and away the "loaded" teams.

Since any of the five top teams in the OHL West could have won, it stands to reason that the talent was more spread out in the OHL.

Not to mention that many of the so called experts had Saint John as the favorite coming to the tourney as they were considered the team that was "loaded".

With 31 seconds left in the game and a 4-3 lead, Windsor plays Metallica's "For Whom the Bell Tolls" and takes the Memorial Cup.
