ICE DOGS' FUTURE

A lot of interesting discussion on the Fan Forum site regarding – where are the Ice Dogs now, where they might be next year or the year after.

This thread will allow for that discussion to continue...


In the coming days and weeks, some factual and some speculative information about the Ice Dogs and the Eastern Conference will be posted (including previous post relocated on this thread) - that will facilitate some educated and healthy discussion about the future of the Niagara Ice Dogs.

Some interesting stats (FACT) to consider when assessing the current development of the Ice Dogs:

• Using win percentage, the Ice Dogs are currently 4th in the Eastern Conference and tied for 8th overall.
<> Very respectable for a team in ONLY year 2 of a 3 year (or 4 if you prefer) rebuild.

• YEAR 1. After 68 games, the Ice Dogs winning percentage was .412 (56 pts).

• YEAR 2. After 24 games, the Ice Dogs winning percentage is .563 (27 pts).

• Both numbers represent a significant increase from the previous year.

This particular stat was previously posted back on November 11, 2017 and dated November 1, 2017. It is definitely not a tell-all stat, however, it is nonetheless interesting - in that it gives fans a glimpse into what the future may hold.

This is ranked in terms of points per game from 2000 and 2001 born players:

1st: Oshawa:
102 GP, 27 G, 32 A= 59 points
0.578 points per game

2nd: Barrie:
109 GP, 25 G, 36 A= 61 points
0.559 points per game

3rd: Niagara:
59 GP, 9 G, 24 A= 33 points
0.559 points per game

4th: Peterborough:
109 GP, 18 G, 42 A= 50 points
0.495 points per game

5th: Sarnia:
76 GP, 17 G, 20 A= 37 points
0.487 points per game

20th: London:
78 GP, 3 G, 7 A= 10 points
0.128 points per game

Albert Einstink, you are too smart a guy to ask that question!

Anyone (including myself) who claims to have a definitive answer to that question after only 24 games into year 2 of a rebuild - is not allowing the process of a rebuild to unfold.

Ask again in 13 months – and we’ll all be able to give you a YES or NO answer, silly stinkman!
