I agree with you 100% Nicedawg.

I'm not sure where Thomas will be drafted in June, however, most of the rankings and mock drafts have him as a late first round pick.

Using Formenton's draft year as a comparison:

Statistically, Formenton scored 34 points in 65 games and 0 points in 14 playoff games. Akil Thomas has already accumulated 59 points in 50 games - and hopefully some equally impressive playoff numbers. Those numbers won't go unnoticed.

Physically, Formenton is 6.02 and 174 - not sure what his height and weight were on draft day. Thomas is 5.11 and 170.

Formenton ended up being drafted 2nd round (#47), so a late 1st round pick seems very possible for Akil Thomas. Timing is important too! And Thomas is playing some of his best hockey of the season in the last 4 or 5 weeks.

It would be great for Thomas, the Ice Dogs organization and the fans to hear his named called in the 1st round come June!

If a specific team is looking for a power play specialist or a shootout specialist he could really go high as he is outstanding in those areas. As far as a 5 on 5 player his stats are not overwhelming. well less than a point be game and that likely translates into a mid 2nd rounder

However, if you factor in the Europeans who are projected to be selected ahead of Thomas (e.g., Dhalin, Boqvist, Denisenko,Lundestrom, Kupari), you get some idea at where Akil Thomas might be ranked overall by NHL Central Scouting.

Akil Thomas currently ranked #10 (NA Skater) by Central Scouting - would likely be ranked somewhere between #15 or #20 (Overall) by NHL Central Scouting.
