The OHL has changed, the big hulking defensemen you yearn for still exists, you'll find him in the penalty box or suspended. A 5 on 3 with two D in the box scares the hell out of me. A quick pass to the neutral zone onto the stick of one of our talented forwards works for me.

Gotta disagree... what we need is a big tough smart defenseman to clear the front of our net out

The big and nasty d-man makes the opposition players leary of being inside that blue line because he might get taken out hard.

Not all big d-men pick up dumb penalties.
Hell, our small d-men pick up some really dumb ones that make our heads shake in disbelief.

Dude look at the facts we aren't getting scored on too much we are failing to score. Our goaltender is better than average, our goals against are above average but our goals for are sub par. Translation for the visually impaired: we aren't scoring enough goals. The End.

And if our goalie keeps getting taken out by opposing players because our d can't clear the front of the net he will.eventually face some sort of injury... than what. He's been hot several times already this season and no one has even really jumped.in to defend him

Matt & DJ suggest that Ryan Moore an OA centre might be a good fit for us. He is 5'-8" tall and weighs 168 pounds

In 2015-16 in 68 games, he scored 25 goals, with 23 assists for 48 points - 54 minutes in penalties but was a -23 on the season
In 2016-17 in 68 games, he scored 39 goals with 51 assists for 90 points - 57 minutes in penalties and was a +11.
This season in 18 games, he has scored 6 goals with 13 assists for 19 points - 16 minutes in penalties and is -8.

Would he help make us better or should we just stay the course and let our players grow with experience?

Really don’t see the point in spending big time to get a player like this.

We aren’t winning it all this year. So why bother IMHO, if the price is excessive

Not quite the end yet.
If our play in the D zone is better and cut down even more on the goals again, then, we can get away with the number of goals that we score and I can see very well also.

Looks like management agreed with me. A fourth for some sandpaper and talent is just what the doctor ordered for the O-line. What's a Machala?
