This bring up an interesting point. This situation is very different from other players whose only option is the NHL or OHL after signing ELC. Fair to say there is a huge discrepancy in the amount of money Brady Tkachuk would receive between the AHL or OHL?

Can anyone post...

How much money would Tkachuk receive annually if he plays in the AHL?

How much money would he receive weekly or yearly if he plays in the OHL?

Who is picking up the tab for the difference in pay?

...and why would Tkachuk agent/management allow him to lose that amount of money?

Some interesting observation from Sun Sens writer Bruce Garrioh, GM Pierre Dorian and Sens TSN analyst Dave Poulin.

Ottawa Sun by Bruce Garrioch

Given the way things have gone during this off-season for the Senators, Tkachukís decision to turn pro will be welcome news. Pierre Dorion was confident that would be the case since the club drafted Tkachuk.

Tkachuk has as good a chance as anybody to make the Senators roster for this coming season. The list of LW on the roster included Ryan Dzingel, Mikkel Boedker, Max McCormick, Magnus Paajarvi, Tom Pyatt and Zack Smith. Smith will likely be moved to centre if heís not traded before camp begins, Pyatt can be moved to the right side and thereís no guarantee McCormick will be in Ottawa to start the season.

Where it could get interesting is if Tkachuk doesnít crack the NHL roster. The Senators could send him to the OHLís London Knights or to the Senatorsí AHL affiliate in Belleville.

Thatís where Dave Poulin (TSN analyst) believes Tkachuk should go if he canít stick with Ottawa during the regular season.
Dorion would then have the option of bringing the youngster back to the NHL. ďItís about controlling his development,Ē Poulin said. ď(In Belleville) you can control his minutes, you can control his situation. You can do whatever you want with him in Belleville.

It's beginning to look a lot like...2016, when NCAA commits Max Jones (Antonio Stranges), Matthew Tkachuk (Brady Tkachuk) and Import Olli Joulevi (Adam Boqvist)– all joined the London Knights to unite with Mitch Marner (Alex Formenton), Christian Dvorak (Liam Foudy) and Victor Mete (Evan Bouchard) to create the best team in the CHL .

Let’s hope this is true

Ottawa Sun – Ken Warren

Of course, the Senators have made no secret of their plans to embark on a youth movement. “It’s wide open,” Senators coach Guy Boucher said of the opportunities for younger players. “I’m looking forward to, if we can, have a young guy on every line. I would love to have the greatest number of young guys make our team.”

The Knights’ season could change significantly depending on what happens with Brady Tkachuk and Alex Formenton.

@JeffMarek
Snooping around on the Brady Tkachuk story, there is a strong belief from most corners that he ends up playing with the London Knights this season.

Thus, once again, wiping out a chance for an OHL Championship for the Icedogs, like in 2012 and 2016, to the BS that goes on in London!!

The fans and experts can speculate all they want, however, the final decision is ultimately in the hands of the Ottawa Senators Ė and according to reports from their GM and coach the Sens are planning to go with a youth movement but wonít make any player decision until after training camp and/or Game 9.

With that in mind, thereís really no point in worrying about it at this time. Too early. Maybe, just maybe, IceDog fans will get some good news Oct 26th.

I mean London drafted him in the 4th round a few years ago. In this case, London is just getting lucky.

But was there a ‘reason’ why he was a fourth round pick ?

(You know the type of ‘reason’ it could be ... wink wink nudge nudge lol)
