Default Dogs life

Do all IceDogs get matched with a billet? Wouldn't it be cheaper or better if they lived in a residence with all the other players? When they go on road trips do they get their own room or have to share? What is their typical week like?

To my knowledge everyone gets a billet unless they live close in that case they just live at home with family. Cheaper maybe but better Iím not so sure with the billets they can make sure the guys eat properly and all that other stuff. Most teams do the roommate thing when on the road. I donít have a clue about the typical week but if I had to guess itís school then practice then home on most non game days unless they are given the day off from team stuff but like I said Iím not sure on this question

The Billet system isn't perfect. But it's the best available system for the players. Having adult supervision in a 'Home Environment' makes a lot more sense.

When you put more than 3 or 4 teen boys in a Dorm-Life situation, it rarely works out well.

I would imagine they double up on road trips where they stay over.

The billets are far more important than people realize. Those couples open their homes to a stranger (so to speak) and treat him like a part of theirs.
I am speaking from experience as we billets for a tier 2 team back in the mid 70's.

I seem to recall a recent superstar who wasn't matched with a billet lol.

That was because he was staying with his Mother here in town. I was told this while this was happening.

Until a certain goalie coach stepped up (was paid extra) to take him in?
