Surely they weren’t fine $250k about Tyler friggin Boston LMFAO My spider senses were tingling when I saw this ... I immediately suspected it was trying to recruit someone who ended up NOT reporting ... which led me to speculate either Josh Norris or Trent Frederic. But if they didn’t end up coming, than why would they have an axe to grind years later? Until the Icedogs man up and explain exactly what happened there’s going to be all these rumours and speculation. I suspect that that won’t happen based on their gutless denial they issued on twitter. Clearly throwing Marty under the bus .... Isn’t beer expensive enough ? Lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I signed up on the Boards site some time ago but after I signed out, the next time I tried to sign in, I was denied access. This happened about three times so I gave up on the sign in. Anyway, I found this information on the Niagara thread about the Portland rules violations and the information released to their fans on what had occured.
Some of these infractions surprised me, example, a cell phone.... Anyway, the article....................................... Well, we DO know what the WHL’s 2012 investigation into the Portland Winterhawks found. Not because the league or its legal team/ investigators told us, but because the Winterhawks wanted everyone to know EXACTLY what horrible crimes they had committed. Sunlight, after all, is always the best disinfectant. Here are the 2012 Portland Winterhawks sins: — A player contract signed in 2009, involving flights for the player’s family and a summer training program. — Seven families were provided flights two-four times per season based on financial need and their distance from Portland. — The team paid for two players to each have a one-week summer training regimen. — The Winterhawks provided a cellphone for their team captain for a period of three seasons. And for these acts of decency to players (sorry — meant “student athletes”) and their families, the Head Coach/GM was suspended, the team fined $200K, and a pile of draft picks were taken away. |

Don't bet on it. While it's a possibility. They'll likely keep Tomasino and Thomas long enough to get them in position to make the playoffs and then move them. Wouldn't be at all surprised to see Jones and /or Maksimov back as well. Hoping Savoie and Wright both get turned down for exceptional player status this year. At least they'd have a stud to build around if they bottom out next year. |

Based on these few examples, I’d be interested in knowing what the IceDogs’ recruitment violation was, but to be honest – far more interested in learning London’s list of recruitment violations. Oh boy! |

You have to go back to the evil empire thread for that info.

Just out of curiosity...if these sanctions had been announced before the deadline would we have made the Stundnicka trade or would they have held on to Moore to secure a little more of the future

My thinking is that the staff knew what might happen all along and were committed to going all in. The sanctions did not change their minds. It might have changed mine though. |

My guess is no. It’s gonna be a long road back to a rebuild, and the Dogs might as well start now.

If we are being told these sanctions are result of recruitment violations, could it not be related to the scouting staff?
There have been a lot of changes in the IceDogs scouting staff in the last few years? The IceDogs once had as many as 11 scouts - they are now down to 7. For starters, in June of 2016, Niagara announced that Roger MacLeod would take over as the team’s new Director of Scouting. Who was their Director of Scouting previous to MacLeod? Roger MacLeod Director of Scouting Darryl Boulley ETA - Gone Matt Milne SCTA/Goalies Kenny Fleck Ottawa Nathan Martine GTA - Gone Steve Ludzik Jr. OJHL - Gone Mark Seidel Northern Ontario - Gone Steve Spade Michigan - Gone Rich Lisk New Jersey - Gone Rob Hubbert Player Development …Tim MacLean, Vince Tarantino and Brent Tomlinson all added this year. |
