I suspect Niagara asked for a player with that trade and the netminder refused the trade. London responds with an extra 2 and 5 for Silent Sam, returnable when they convince the goalie to move.

You can’t trade a defected player for another player(s). It has to be for picks only.

So, they hammered out the second deal. The problem for Dogs fans is the return for Dickinson looked good. Now, take away two of the picks to get a below average goalie is beyond stupid. Now you likely have to get rid of one of the goalies on your roster. One of which was the highest goalie selected in last years draft. I would imagine the price for Costanzo is pretty low considering other teams know they have to move one. Or you trade Rosy and go with the mediocre goalie that’s a year younger. But, why would you want a young goalie tandem when you spent all that draft capital on older players a month ago?

Cue the circus music.

You are correct, there is a rule. You can not trade a defected player for a player(s). Picks only.

So, just to add some intrigue, what if the new owner fancies us having the 'team' to 'go for it' next year & wants to bid for the Memorial Cup when it gets back to OHL.
No reason to build a team, just trade for it in any way you know based on your years of OHL experience.
Makes sense, right?
