A player that is playing in Thorold right now and that is following on the same path that Vince Dunn did is Mason Howard who is apparently having a good season.
Might he be a part of the process here?

I was looking at the Dogs roster and players that they will be losing going into next season and they really don't lose much goal scoring. I added OA's ,Corneil, Shankar and Carbonara's (only played 4 games with dogs) along with 98's Dame, Langdon, Schaefer, Lochead and it amounted to only 14 goals near the mid point of season. If the trend continues they will roughly only lose around 35 goals out of the lineup going into next year

Mid-Season 2018 OHL Draft Ranking- Top 100
http://www.thescout.ca/web/

Our Top 10 remains mostly the same with:
1. Quinton Byfield (York-Simcoe Express)
2. Jamie Drysdale (Toronto Marlboros)
3. Antonio Stranges (Little Caesars 16U)
4. Dylan Peterson (CIHA)
5. Cole Perfetti (Vaughan Kings)
6. Cameron Tolnai (Oakville Rangers)
7. Lleyton Moore (Toronto Marlboros).

They are joined by three newcomers in:
8. Cameron Peters (Toronto Marlboros)
9. Stephen Halliday (Toronto Marlboros)
10.Owen Porter (Mississauga Reps)

Four members of the Toronto Marlboros are in the Top 10 with a few others just on the outside looking in, evidence of how truly impressive of a squad they are.

The Marlboros and players from other GTHL teams dominate the Top 40 and we expect that to be the case through the first two rounds on draft day.

thescout.ca initial 2018 OHL Draft Rankings (Nov. 2017) include the following players as numbers 8-10.

8. Reid Valade Toronto Marlboros
9. Jean-Luc Foudy Toronto Titans
10. Ryan O'Rourke Vaughan Kings

Now two months into the 2017-18 minor-midget season, we have learned that the 2002 age group is one with great high-end talent and the depth to match. TheScout.ca team has worked feverously in the early stages of the year to get comfortable with each region in order to begin sorting out rankings. The process is a challenge and near impossible to get right this early.

2017-18 Minor Midget Season Outlook

One factor that has thrown more of a wrench into the mix this year than others is how so many of the top American players committed to NCAA schools very early, leaving their status in terms of the OHL in question. Our top ranked skater playing south of the border is Antonio Stranges of the Little Caesars U16 club. Stranges is a University of Michigan commit, and while his hold on being the top U.S. player is firm, he will be challenged by the likes of New Jersey native Jason Siedem, Honeybaked teammates Sahil Panwar and Tanner Latsch, Wyatt Shingoethe from the Chicago Mission, and Jacob Truscott who suits up for Little Caesars U15 team.

In Ontario, what was thought to be a two-horse race for the top spot coming in has been quickly put to rest because of the incredible play of Quinton Byfield. A special player on a dominant York-Simcoe team, Byfield has been the story of the season thus far with many believing that he is the best minor midget AAA prospect since Connor McDavid. Thought to be his challenger, Dylan Peterson has gotten off to a slow start with CIHA in Ottawa and starts as our #3 ranked player. Our top-ranked defenseman, Jamie Drysdale grabs the #2 spot thanks to his flawless skating and ability to control and dictate a game in any way he wants.

Another storyline that needs mention is the dominance of a group of teams in Ontario that many of the players at the top of this year’s draft will come from. The Toronto Marlboros, York-Simcoe Express, Vaughan Kings, Mississauga Reps and Oakville Rangers are all stacked squads and a massive chunk of the first two rounds should come from these teams

Maybe we will have another Marlboros join the team? They would join our picks from the last 3 years - Jones, Thomas and Constantinou.

2. Akil Thomas - Forward - Niagara IceDogs
I'm a big Thomas fan and despite most scouting agencies dropping him to the late 1st round range, I'd still consider him in the middle of the first as the 2nd best OHL prospect available. I think he plays a pro style game which could translate to the next level really well once he adds some strength to his frame. Excels as a forechecker and boards player by outhustling and outworking opposing defenders for loose pucks in the offensive end. And has the vision and creativity to create plays coming off the wall. Also excels in transition where his skating ability (which continues to improve) can dictate the pace and keep defenders on their heels. I do see why scouts might see him in a lesser light though. I think he's probably more likely a winger at the NHL level, despite the versatility he's shown this year by playing center. I think the low goal scoring numbers, despite high shot numbers, are a slight cause for concern. And I wonder if he ends up as more of a complimentary second line guy as opposed to a prime time offensive creator. All that said, this is a guy who wears a letter in Niagara already and possesses great work ethic. I see him continuing to improve to the point where he develops into a prime time OHL player, if he isn't already.

41. Justin MacPherson - Defense - Niagara IceDogs
Mobile defender who escaped a rough patch (that saw him earn a few scratches) around the quarter mark. But seems to be really gaining confidence of late, especially offensively. Have really liked his ability to keep pucks in the offensive end and makes a lot of smart pinches. Definitely has potential as a powerplay QB because of his vision and anticipation, so long as he can improve his shot from the point. Defensively, he uses his mobility well to aid him. But he was known as a very physical, throwback player in midget, and that's something we haven't really seen yet at the OHL level. With added strength, maybe that part of his game starts to shine through? A player to watch for the second half IMO.
