I (for once) actually take the side of Kushner, and agree it needs to remain an industrial zone if it's not going to be used for an arena. These people who see St. Catharines as a gleaming city filled with computer IT people, media white collar folk, etc... are dreaming. It's a strong industrial backbone of blue collar workers that will remain the heart of the city. This town isn't going to turn into a Mississauga or Brampton. We need the middle-classed skilled tradesmen producing actual physical products.

Although I still can't figure out how they mention putting 'neighborhoods' in there. How can we keep closing up big employers and replacing them with houses? Where do all the people in these new houses WORK?

Anyhoo, as this is the arena talk thread... TONS of restaurants on that strip, right down from the QEW on one end, and the 406 on the other. You can't beat the location for an arena (aside from maybe downtown lower lot). You've got 4-lane Ontario St. going to the QE, 2 more lanes going downtown and to the 406, and Carlton St. right at the location, so traffic leaving the game have 3 roads to exit down, relieving congestion. Heck, on one side you've already got a nice sized parking lot too! Ok, I'm off to go outside and watch this lunar eclipse. Only once every 300 yrs! EDIT: GRR.. clouds.
