You’re absolutely right – RISK and REWARD always has consequences – just check out A-A-ron Judges’ homerun and strikeout stats !

However, “the swing for the fences approach is why the IceDogs don't have a bonafide back up goalie” is not entirely accurate. Recruiting is only one of the reasons why they don’t have a bonafide backup goalie.

Proper scouting and drafting is another reason. For example, the year the Ice Dogs selected Colton Incze they could have drafted Jake McGrath instead.

And GMs can always use trades to fix any mistakes made. For example, SSM currently have three quality goalies.

99 Matthew Villalta (Drafted by LA Kings (2017) Rd 3).
98 Joseph Raaymakers (98): Hold out - requesting a trade.
97 Connor Hicks: Might be the perfect backup if available?

Go Dogs!

Niagara has a history of NOTplaying their BU tenders. Why would he request a trade to a team that won’t play him?

Blacksox - scouting would be so easy if you could wait a couple of years and them make your selection based on how they turned out. If that was the case Vince Dunn would not have been a 6th round pick or Blake Seibenaler a 15th round pick. Akil Thomas would have gone 1st overall not where the Ice Dogs got him

And the shoe has dropped as Somerville goes to Guelph for an undisclosed draft pick.

Too good for Jr. B (leading scorer of Fort Erie season as a defenceman) but not good enough for us. Too many D guys I guess.

I've heard he's a pretty good lacrosse player as well. Plays with the St. Catharines Spartan Jr. B's.

Started a thread for Andrew, I really liked him. Not the move that I would have made, but my job is to purchase tickets and consume an alcohol/popcorn mixture.
