Roberts adds skill, speed to IceDogs
By Bill Potrecz - October 12, 2017 (bpsportsniagara.ca)

http://bpsportsniagara.ca/14446-2/

Roberts is mindful of his defensive responsibilities, despite his offensive prowess.

“Almost every time before you go you quickly in your mind think and look at where everyone is on the ice and who you’re out against. If I am out against a team’s top line you probably won’t see me up in the rush as much,” he said. “I don’t think there is a number how many times you should or shouldn’t go.

“It’s reading the play and taking what’s given to me.”

Burke said, “It’s becoming good enough and smart enough to pick your spots. To his credit he does take pride in his defence. He’s not a 100 per cent offensive guy. He’s very strong and he battles hard and he does have the speed to make up for a lot of mistakes.”

An interesting Ice Dog hiring announced in this story:
The Niagara IceDogs have added Jason Payne and Khalil Thomas to the hockey operations staff, in prospect development.

Dogs announced the Payne and Thomas hiring on their site a few days ago. Thomas is Akil's dad as I'm sure most are aware. He had a very lengthy pro career as did Payne.

(Eric) Dhillon earns first home victory
By Bill Potrecz

http://bpsportsniagara.ca/14466-2/

Eric went to camp with the IceDogs as an extra goaltender before winding up in Thorold. “I saw a new organization with a great coaching staff,” he said. “It was a great fit so I had to come here. It was a new start.”

Dhillon makes no bones about following in his brother’s footsteps. “I want to play with him,” he smiled. “He’s a great hero for me.”

Has there ever been a team with 2 goalies that are brothers? That would be something new if I had to guess.

IceDogs salvage point in Erie
By Bernie Puchalski

http://bpsportsniagara.ca/icedogs-salvage-point-erie/

“We weren’t really ready to go and they gave it to us early, but the guys were able to rally and grab us a point,” he said. “Three out for four points in the grand scheme of things against a non-conference opponent, we will look back on and be happy.”

“It’s tough to go into another team’s building and win games and the fact that we have had a lot of success on the road early is great,” Burke said.

He has no real explanation for the road success.

“I think the guys like winning and wherever we are and whoever we are against, we feel like we have a chance.”

Game Highlights in very low def.
