I think the directive from the owners has been pretty clear over the last few years - "protect the players and make this league safe".

This was a dirty play by a dirty player, who missed two minutes of hockey while Peters misses the next 20 games and who knows what the severity of his injury is to be listed as month to month. Surgery???

I agree with you on all points but the fact remains that Branch runs the league the way the Owners wish him too. If they weren't happy, things would change.
I do agree with you though.

That would be really unfortunate. I was really hoping with more ice time Peters would develop into a good player. He seems to have trouble scoring. In 48 games this year he has 2 goals and 7 points. In contrast Uberti in 46 games has 13 goals and 26 points and De Simone in 52 games has 7 goals and 12 points. So Peters definitely seems behind in his development and sitting out the rest of the season won’t help.

Agree with that 100% 5FF!

This was Peters’ chance to play more than the 4 minutes a game on the 4th line. The IceDogs had him employed on the 2nd line, PK and PP. This season ending injury is terribly unfortunate. Peters was just beginning to show some of the potential of a highly touted 2nd round pick in 2018. I viewed several 2018 MM Marlies games - can tell you with certainty, Peters along with Will Cuylle, Reid Valade and Riley Piercey consistently stood out as their top forwards - more so than even Stephan Halliday.

It would not surprise me to see the IceDogs end up uncovering another hidden gem with this acquisition. With this opportunity to play regularly, as an 18, 19 and 20 year old, Peters has the talent to develop into a top 6 forward (or at the very least a solid top 9) and be a key contributor to the IceDogs’ run at a championship in a few years.
