Mediocre goalie

For

The 4th overall pick (by all accounts the best defencemen in the draft)

We’ll have to agree to disagree.

That Mediocre goalie could end up being the starter at some point this year depending on what happens with Costanzo

They got virtually the same for Bateman who was drafted 19th.

https://www.niagarathisweek.com/comm...ealt-to-spits/

In exchange for Bateman, Windsor gave up Guelph’s sixth round pick in 2012, Peterborough’s second round pick in 2014, Sarnia’s second round pick in 2015, and Windsor’s third round pick in both 2015 and 2016.
Niagara also receives a conditional fourth rounder that could be Windsor’s fourth rounder in 2016 if Bateman laces up in at least one game during his overage season, which is slated for 2015.

Honestly I don't see how the Icedogs can be successful over the long term.

In addition to the GM having no experience at the OHL level or above, he wears too many hats. Team owner and GM of the Icedogs, team owner and GM of the Brantford Jr. A team, team owner and GM of the Brantford Jr. B team. Does he still own golf courses as well?

Then we have an entire coaching staff with no experience at the OHL level or above.

And now it looks like we may have the smallest scouting staff in the OHL. According to the IceDogs website, the scouting staff has been reduced from 10 employees when the Burkes owned the team to now only 5 scouts. I did a quick check of some other OHL teams and from what I can tell, here are the number of employees on the scouting team:

Guelph 7
Hamilton 8
North Bay 8
Owen Sound 9
Oshawa 10
Windsor 10
Kingston 10
Peterborough 10
Kitchener 11
London 13
Mississauga 16

The new owner seems more concerned about reducing expenses and increasing profit than he does about winning games.

IMO if he was concerned about winning, he would have hired an experienced GM and coach and would have expanded the scouting team rather than reducing it.

Because you're named the starter doesn't mean you're not mediocre. Have you seen him play? There's a reason Knights fans don't give a crap about trading him away.

Can he develop and turn into something? Sure.
Can Roobroeck develop and turn into something? Sure.

The difference, one cost and 8th round pick. The other a 2nd and a 5th. One improved as the season went along, the other didn't.

No I haven’t seen him play yet I wasn’t at the pre season game he played. London fans won’t care because he doesn’t play for them anymore but if he turns out to be a good player and they don’t have good goaltending (them not having good goaltending is highly unlikely) those fans will start caring

He played in 16 games for London last year. Not just one exhibition game this year. There was plenty of opportunity to see him play.

In those 16 games he won 6.

In a league with 20 teams he had the 36th best a save pct at .875 The 30th best GAA at 3.67 on a team that was second in the conference for the fewest goals allowed. (they only played their own conference last year)

He lost more games than he won on a team that was 17 games over .500

MEDIOCRE

Rookie goalie has tough start to career never seen that before…..oh wait we have 😂 I know he played 16 games last year but we didn’t play London and I don’t have the action pack or anything so I didn’t really pay any attention to him or his numbers until we traded for him. Anyways my original point wasn’t to say that he wasn’t mediocre last year it was just that he’s most likely going to be our starter at some point this year if not at the very beginning of the year
