Hamilton has just approved a plan for a massive reno/revitalization plan to be completed in time for the 2023-24 season(assuming there is one, and assuming everything has returned to relative normalcy by then). Rather than tear down the former Copps Coliseum, a comprehensive renovation will be taking place to the tune of $500,000,000. Obviously, for that kind of coin, this will be much more than an arena upgrade. But that being said, I think we are going to really start appreciating more and more how much arena we ended up getting for the paltry sum of $50 million

I wonder if this is enough for the Bulldogs to stay downtown. You have to figure the first season after the reno they will have a much easier time selling tickets, as people want to see inside the newer barn.

The $500 million is for a number of facilities, including the Arena, Convention Centre, Concert Hall, Art Gallery and mixed use development including housing. The renovation of the arena is $50 million. That is a much better plan than the proposal for a new arena at the mall that was talked about previously. |
