Hey Matt, IceDog fans are furious. We are sick and tired of this.

Time to discuss this on your show. I know you and DJ read our forum.

Anyone on here have any ideas for Matt to discuss Wednesday night

On an interim basis, I like the idea of (former NCAA coach and current coach of the Welland Jr.Bs) Dave Burkholder taking over. See how the team performs and decide at the end of the season whether to rehire him or begin the process of looking for a new coach.

Of course, this is all dependent on whether Billy Burke would be willing to accept an alternate role in the organization. I do not doubt his commitment to wanting the team to succeed, but there are many ways an individual who cares can contribute to a team’s success – player development, scouting and recruiting are a few. In a different role, he could still remain active both on and off the ice to help his organization reach it's goals.

Matt, to answer a few of your questions:
It has become pretty apparent that a change is needed for both the players and fans. As regular season moves along, fans are seeing a lack of consistent team structure, irresponsible defensive zone coverage, erratic zone breakouts, ineffective PP formation and now fans are seeing lack of effort, motivation and enthusiasm in the players. All are red flags that the players need a new voice and direction.

When the IceDogs, switched plans to go with a young team, fans were supportive and adjusted to realistic expectations - competitive .500 hockey and a 6th or 7th finish. Fair to say that Joey and the fans all believe the IceDogs have the talent (young and old) to be “that” team?


…and I don’t know if he is still living in the Niagara region, but if he is, I would explore Ted Nolan’s interest in returning to junior hockey.

Cannot for the life of me ever think that Senior Bill will fire Junior Bill.

The only way this situation changes is if Senior Bill transitions ownership to the Juniors and then if Junior Bill wants to stop coaching.

We are stuck with him until that happens IMO

How about this Matt:
Does Billy Burke not watch PP of any OHL, NHL, teams to see that your top shooters belong on there off wings on the PP!!
The angle is much better on there off wings.
He has Cameron Butler on the right wing on the PP and hardly ever has a direct one timer.
Cameron Butler belongs on the left wing on the PP,,
Hockey 101 Billy Burke.

Butler has gone over to the left more then a few times the last couple games and the result has still been the same he doesn’t do anything with the puck when he gets it same goes for a lot of the top guys (except Gushchin) and I’m not just talking on the PP

It quite possible that no one dislike the 1st PP formation more than I do – so accuracy in this discussion is imperative. The IceDogs have had a total of 69 PP opportunites this year.

Twice Butler and Gushchin were switched to their off-wing during a 5 on 4.
This was the first time…they came close to scoring a couple of times.

They also switched sides on two other occasions – both 5 on 3.

There is a considerable knowledge base on this site and from time to time ideas have been gleaned.

I am frustrated they can’t clear the puck out of their end and they don’t hit anybody Tucker has to become more aggressive too.
