![]() After two weeks, the Niagara IceDogs have added a point but have sunk to the bottom of the OHL. With a 0.289 average there is no where to go but up, yet I have a sinking feeling that the climb won't start this week. Last edited by NiceDawg; 12-01-2021 at 08:19 PM. |

Following the 2016 playoff run, Marty departed leaving the cupboard barren. Joey Burke used what little was left (e,g., Knott, Paquette, McPherson, Ham) to recoup enough picks to assemble that uber-talented IceDogs teams. The 2019 team's massive underachievement was a combination of coaching, misuse/injury to Akil Thomas (and Maksimov a month earlier – those who remember that game, know where the blame lay there) all caught up to them in a colossal playoff failure with BB at the helm. Following that epic underachievement, Joey left himself with little to kick-start another rebuild, but in just four short months, Joey managed to use Paquette, Sopa, Thomas and Tomasino to bank this…Cam Butler, Cam Peters, 2nd, 2nd, 2nd, 2nd, 2nd, 2nd, 2nd, 2nd, 2nd, 2nd, 3rd, 3rd,3rd, 3rd, 3rd, 3rd, 4th, 4th, 4th, 4th, 5th, 6th,8th. ….with the entire 20-21 season lost - and the shift to another restart in 21-22, Joey’s second rebuild will ultimately be evaluated on the team’s success in 2023-2024, with the multiple high round selections (4s,05s,06s and 07s) as the core. The concern remains to be the coaching. These coaches either have to figure it out or be replaced immediately. If one of those two does not happen asap, this could be the demise of this franchise and the fan base. You don’t want agents, players and parents putting the “don’t draft me sign on the door” as a direct result of the coaching in Niagara. In this rebuild, fair to say, fans are less concerned with the losses and more with how they are losing. Last weekend was much better, BUT with two home games ahead, do they show progress this week? Or do they regress again? Important weekend for IceDog fans! *** |

Tbh were we really
Going to win with Stephen Dhillon as the goaltender? It really was a very good team but weak between the pipes IMO I mean I guess it could happen. I will never forget the stupid tripping penalty he took which resulted in a power play goal which basically ended that game. Also remember another goal that 99% of goalies would have caught with their glove but Dhillon flubbed it and they scored on the rebound, always thought his glove hand was horrible. Going to the game tonight, I have to be honest I have missed the past couple weeks and I do not even really feel like going, truly feel like just laying on the couch and watching the NHL. My son wants to go so guess I will go hopefully it is not another train wreck of a game

That last goal was stellar!!
This looks like a team that is tired of being in last place.
