Oshawa #Generals acquiring Cam Butler from the Niagara IceDogs for 2 picks.

Believe one of those picks is being used for Sirizotti.

The Ottawa 67's have traded Brenden Sirizzotti to the Niagara IceDogs for a 2023 2nd round pick (Originally belonging to Guelph).

I really do not understand the purpose of this trade!?

The incoming player is a 2019 second rounder who has underwhelmed thus far, the remainder of this seasons is clearly (a) in doubt and or (b) a write off anyways as the team is horrible and if the season does continue we will not contend anyways, And we give up a 2023 third for him?

Too bad Blacksox has left the building as I am pretty sure he would think this was a good use of assets.

Or is this me being negative again?

For my two cents it?s like they have replaced Butler with this guy and gained potentially one additional draft pick potentially which begs the question did Butler ask to be traded?

Although as of now the Butler trade is a rumour as nothing is posted on the dogs website although the other trade has been posted on the 67s website . . .

You traded an under performing player who wouldn’t be around when this team hopes to be good for a player who could/should be this trade surprised me but I understand it

Butler trade is now official. We get back a 2nd in 2025 and an 11th in 2024.

Not to be too negative, but, I did not think the the Dogs would get a 2nd for Butler. PS: have not been a fan of his since he came to Niagara. Wish him well in Oshawa though. Maybe they can wake him up.

Nobody likes playing on a team that is dead-last in the league, so if they have any worth, they will ask for a trade. And if that particular player has been underperforming anyhow, and with no hope of winning anything other than an earlier tee-off date, why not trade up for picks? Are you being negative - am I? Yes, probably on both accounts. I think the IceDogs didn't need to be as bad as they are this year and that has brought out a lot of frustration. Some will blame the lack of coaching and others will say the players became passengers very early on. Perhaps the sunny truth lies somewhere in between player mismanagement and player contribution.

I totally agree!!
Blacksox had tremendous stats and did massive amount of research.
Exactly, our loss indeed.
