I would have rather they traded Gushchin and kept Butler and Uberti. There is a good chance they would have both been back next year but there is no chance of Gushchin returning next season.

And with the Uberti trade, the Icedogs now only have 2 forwards and 3 defencemen remaining from last season. I think that really shows how bad this rebuild has been.

I'd rather the younger players had a positive on-ice role model. With Gushchin they can see how plays are made, rather than how to cough up the puck or take meaningless penalties.

Is this the best post of the season?

You did forget about Rosy - he was here two years ago . . . Albeit in a third string goalie role.

But still, IMO this rebuild hasn?t been planned ideally . . .

I don’t think the rebuild was that bad I just think not playing last year pushed everyone back a year which meant those guys definitely wouldn’t be around when we’re any good

May also speak to the very inexperienced management team we have assembled. If one were to go back to the Marty days or earlier ones even, you could see there was teaching, kids growing into roles as team, allowing the kids to grow in reaching their potential. They did not get a unending stream of monosyllabic invectives every sentence of every communication from the 'teachers'. There is always a 'price' for nepotism.

Agreed losing a year really hurt . There is no denying that. But every team was faced with that, but IMO, it would hurt a young team more than older teams, unless of course last year was your go for it year (Oshawa! Lol) so that loss of a season was crushing.

Most here would agree that next year will be a huge developmental year for the Dogs young players. In the past he has made stupid trades to bring in OA to ?show the young kids how to play?.

So what does JB do? He trades a Captain and an Alternate Captain (who were selected by the Burke brain trust I presume), who the Burke boys have spoken glowingly about, ahead of a year where they probably would have returned as OA players. Oh and he was responsible for bringing I. Both of those players BTW.

That does not sound like very well thought out planning to me. But I am just being negative I guess.
