I think management had the thought that without Gushchin, they'd lose every game. Losing every game means losing fans. Losing fans means less bums in seats, which means less BMWs for Burke family members.

Don't forget, not every fan appreciates the nuances of a multi-year play-off strategy. I can't tell you the number of times people have complained "they traded our best guys" in a no-go year for a bundle of picks.

Pretty sure the Burkes are wealthy enough to afford fancy cars even if the Dogs are losing money.

Am I the only person who thinks its good for the development of our young players to have a top tier athlete on the roster? Also good for our goalies to have Gushchin shooting at them in practice. I see nothing but upside.

If it?s so beneficial than why do so few OHL teams hold on to their top talent in a year where there is no hope of making the playoffs?

I think you are one of the few people thinking it?s beneficial to waste assets on your roster . . .

Don't get it? 20 games of bad hockey to add players and picks we can enjoy for years. Seems like an easy choice to me.

Spent most of the week at the OHL Cup. Looks like there a quite a few high end players to choose from. Ice Dogs should get a good one. One interesting note is that I only saw one Ice Dog scout there all week. I guess they have already done their homework on the players. Odd though, most of the other teams seemed to have multiple scouts there

Michael Missa granted exceptional player status . . . Would be cool if Icedogs got the chance to get him.

What does "exceptional status" mean? Is he coming in younger than normal?

If he has that status, wouldn't it indicate he wants to play in the OHL?

It means he’s coming as a 15 year old not 16 like everyone else

Hopefully we can get a top 2 pick and either get the exceptional status player (Misa) or the kid that was going first overall pretty much all year in (Spence)

He has to except any team that drafts him. Part of agreement .his brother plays for mississauga
