People need to get past the idea that the arena is just for the Icedogs, yes they will be the main tenant but it will be a multi-use facility. This City needs to get out of the 50's and start putting money into things that people in the city want and need.

If the city doesn't "get with the times" soon there will be nobody left here but senior citizens. I have 4 kids all in college or high school and they all say the same thing, they cant wait to finish school and move out of the Niagara Region. When i ask them why the #1 answer they all give is there is nothing here for them. No good Jobs and No recreation.

I can't blame him. It's true what he said - if the fed gov funds our building, they'll have to do it for all CHL and other minor leagues (and not just hockey) when they need a new rink.

We need to fund this thing the same way other OHL/CHL rinks have been funded (and I'm not even sure how that is - but if they can do it, we can do it).

You have to get around the political speak. If any body of government said they'd help fund the building of hockey facilities there would be a huge uproar. However, if you ask a liberal or conservative if they would help support a large scale downtown revitalization with a multi-purpose community facility they'd be all over it. That's why it is being presented the way it is.
