I agree...the IceDogs need to draft size (and skill) and trade for size whenever possible. However, there does appear to be a shift in their philosophical belief on how they want the team to look - as they have made an effort to add players with size

IceDogs do have some smaller players on the roster (Snow, Simms, Theriault) but most OHL teams do. The majority of this team have decent OHL size.

The IceDogs brought in 4 rookie defensemen (Betts, Cato, Enright, Chanton) that are all at or over 6.00. Landon Cato the tallest (6.02 / 205) of that group – and Mason Howard (6.03 / 220) the tallest of the returning d-men.

This year (and last year), they traded for players with size (Butler 6.04, Peters 6.02, Beraldo 6.00 and Gucciardi 6.00) – and drafted them too (02 Uberti, 02 Halliday, 03 Enright, 03 Cato, 03 Agostinelli)

Like you, I hope this is what we can continue to expect with this IceDogs rebuild.

Can't fast forward the process...

How was the number one team in the CHL built?

Ottawa took their time, exercised patience in player development, utilized the high picks acquired in trades to draft and trade for players. When you look at their individual progress, those drafted core players required a few seasons to eventually mature into the OHL players they developed into this year.

Ottawa 67s Roster

2015 - 2016
Keating, Austen (Draft)
Hoefenmayer, Noel (Draft)

2016 - 2017
Hoelscher, Mitchell (Daft)
Bahl, Kevin (Draft)
Andree, Cedrick (Draft)

2017 - 2018
Quinn, Jack (Draft)
Clarke, Graeme (Draft)
Rippon, Merrick (Trade)
Okhotyuk, Nikita (Import)

2017 - 2018
Rossi, Marco (Import)
Tolnai, Cameron (Draft)
Belanger, Alec (Draft)

2018 - 2019
Garreffa, Joseph (Trade)
Robinson, Dylan (Trade)
Groulx, Daylon (Trade)
Matier, Jack (Draft)

...this IceDogs’ rebuild get their opportunity to draft on April 4th. It would be a lot better picking 2nd then 5th.

The regular season is all but wiped out for sure. Itís logical to think that since there is no playoffs spot to be decided, the default tiebreaker of wins will be used to decide 8th and 9th or the fact that Kingston win percentage is slightly higher?

If wins or win percentage is not used, it will be interesting to see what “made up” tiebreaker Branch comes up with that places Niagara in 8th
