Where could Adam Fantilli play next season?
https://medium.com/@spencerloane/whe...n-23d4939d5ad1

Two interesting points mentioned by this blogger (affiliation Chicago Steel USHL)

First point, aside from Jonathon Toews, USHL does not attract this caliber of a prospect in their league. The NTDP has produced top talent (e.g. Auston Matthews, Patrick Kane, Jack Eichel), but, technically the NTDP is separate from the USHL even though they regularly play against USHL teams. As a Canadian citizen Fantilli would have to play on 1 of the 15 other USHL. That is a route he feels “doesn’t truly makes any sense for his development at all because of how high-end of a player he is.”

Second point, since affiliated with Chicago Steel, obviously, he is aware of this as IceDogs fans are also…”Most notably, his brother, Luca, was the biggest reason why he ended up making the move there because he wanted to stay close to his family. Luca Fantilli, a University of Michigan commit, is currently a prospect of the Chicago Steel. Since we know how tight the relationship between the brothers is already, I’m curious to see if Luca’s decision on where he plays next season might influence Adam’s decision once again.”

On side note, at the IceDogs vs North Bay game (March 1), struck up a conversation with someone linked to NB - and was surprised to hear that the IceDogs owned Luca Fantilli's rights. I get the feeling few people are aware of that. But how important is Luca? We are going to find out real soon.

Given the choice, would IceDogs general manager Joey Burke prefer extending the playoff streak to 13 years or picking right behind the North Bay Battalion in the draft? "No. To be completely honest as the GM, I wouldn't," he said. "Even a playoff berth means going up against one of the best teams in the country, the Ottawa 67's. We intentionally got young, we loaded up with the draft picks, we want to build for the future. I'm extremely excited to pick second overall."

JB and Brandon Currie both mentioned a while ago, on radio interviews, they're ready for this draft. Scouting (numerous times), interviewing and meeting with players they feel will be available to them.

The IceDogs aren't overly worried about the cancellation of this week's Ontario Cup showcase for draft-eligible players. “Niagara”, Burke said, “has done its due diligence heading into the draft.”

"It really doesn't from our end," he said. "I'm sure there will be some teams and scouts out there who wish they had done their homework a little bit earlier now that they don't get that last chance to see everyone a couple of times.

Burke said the IceDogs are "extremely well-versed" on everybody available in the draft. "We're extremely prepared. We've got a great read on everyone," he said. "We've certainly anticipated for quite a while that we would be picking top five," Burke said. "We've kind of tuned in on those elite, top three, four guys that we believe in.

"I'm extremely confident we're going to bring a star in here."

...“extremely” confident is a little short of 100% on a probability line. Good word choice by Joey.

It is close between the two of them. Tough call. I like the combination of size and skill in Alfano. LeBlanc has the skill and the hockey IQ that will remind some of a young Mitch Marner. If the IceDogs end up with either one of those two it would be a great selection. IceDogs have heavily scouted ST Admirals this season.

Just to clarify - selecting them with one of their 2nd round picks if that is possible. Not sure they will be there at 26 though.
