If the IceDogs are looking for a player in the mould of Phil Tomasino, there will be a couple of them at the top of this draft. This is one of them...he was a guest at an IceDogs game , the other one was also a guest

OHL Prospects@BrockOtten ·3h

I've been binge watching MM games like it's going out of style on @MyHockeyTV, and I think I've come to the conclusion that Paul Ludwinski is my favourite Canadian eligible for the OHL Draft outside of Adam Fantilli. To me, Ludwinski just screams elite level OHL player. The skating ability will play. He's got such a great stick as a two-way center and is hungry for the puck. Great hockey sense. Wears the C for the Marlboros. This is the type of player who change the fortunes of an OHL team.

* Paul Ludwinski C (5.11 / 160) Toronto Marlboros (GTHL)
<>SCOUTING NEWS SN – IMPACT PLAYER
<> Selected Team Canada 2020 Olympic Winter Games (Youth) Jan.18-22

https://prospectpipeline.ca/2019/10/...aul-ludwinski/

One of the most sought-after prospects at the 2020 OHL Draft. Ludwinski is the type of player that coaches dream of; a true five-tool center. There aren’t many holes to Ludwinski’s game. An impact player with a motor that doesn’t quit. He can reach top speeds in just a matter of seconds and showcases impressive handles on the fly. Ludwinski is the type of player that can change the course of the game.

PPL Future Projection: Ludwinski displays all the natural abilities along with the work ethic to be a force at the OHL level and further. A dynamic skater who consistently plays the game at an incredible pace. With a tremendous understanding of the game and a willingness to do whatever it takes to help his team, Ludwinski is sure to be a sought-after prospect ahead of the 2020 OHL Draft.

STEVEN ELLIS: Ludwinski is making a case to be selected early next spring. He was consistently one of Toronto’s best players at the OHF’s. Ludwinski plays with urgency – doesn’t like to wait around to watch the play develop. Instead, he forces turnovers at a high rate. Ludwinski is the Toronto Marlboros’ best players.

If they haven't already negotiated an acceptance and received a firm commitment they shouldn't draft him.

Among the games that I've been focusing on are American based teams to get an idea of some of the higher end U.S. players who may actually head North to play in the OHL. Here are some thoughts on some players who really caught my eye, and who are likely draft selections on the 4th

Evan Konyen (PIT) ICEDOGS' GUEST - Power center who typically plays with DiMarsico in Pittsburgh. Loves playing the middle of the ice & attacking. Strong on the puck & has a great shot and release. Not quite as active away from the puck as his aforementioned linemate, but impressive.

Tyler Catalano (STL) - MASSIVE kid who looks like man playing with boys (6'4, 200+lbs). Is comfortable using his size (net front presence and along the wall). Has good vision for a big man too. #'s compare to former OHL'ers like Garret Ross, Cole Cassels, Tim Gettinger

Nathan Lewis (OAK) - Linemate of Rutger McGroarty and the two have great chemistry. But he's not just a second fiddle. Smart offensive player who moves well without the puck. Assertive. Very good release.

Landon Fleming (OAK) - IMO, easily one of the better skating defenders available for the draft this year. Wish I had seen Oakland live this year to see it even better. But Fleming is such a strong puck mover, so fluid in his movements and so adept at gaining the line.

Marshall Beaker (OAK) - Beaker doesn't possess the elite mobility that teammate Fleming does, but he really caught my eye with his calmness and decision making with the puck. Terrific exit passes and poise when holding the line. Right shot too.

Chris Able (CHI) - Another right shot defender with terrific mobility & a late birth date (which could give him a guaranteed three years in the league). Is the true QB for the Mission, eating up a ton of ice time and kickstarting their high octane attack. Future PP QB.

Carson Walters (CHI) - Certainly not the biggest kid, but he stands out with his ability to navigate traffic and shoot the puck. Great release and has the hands to create space for himself. Could definitely see him being a quality goal scorer in the OHL.

Matthew DiMarsico (PIT) - Smooth and creative playmaking winger who shows very quick hands and an ability to navigate the offensive end. Was consistently impressed with his board work and ability to keep plays alive. Competitive away from the puck too.

Vinny Borgesi (SKS) - Yes, committed to Northeastern, but worth listing. Strong skating puck moving defender who really does a great job of controlling the point with his feet & head. Teammate of likely first rounder David Goyette. One of the top puck movers available.

It seems so simple to me (admittedly not an expert)...have 2 separate drafts...if the young man commits to the NCAA route then they are not eligible for the OHL draft and a separate draft of all the NCAA commits occurs right after with teams drafting in the same order....and is it just me or does the fact a young man "commits" to a NCAA program and then backs out to go to the OHL team he wants just a sad reflection on their character?

I wouldn’t even have 2 drafts just have one and get them to choose before draft day either commit to the OHL and be eligible for the draft or commit to the NCAA and no chance at coming to the OHL (easier said than done) as for the character thing they’re kids who barley know what they want expect to play hockey

i understand they are kids (as I have said on other posts) which is why the draft is such a crap shoot...picking a 15-16 yr old kid who is a superstar in his own area and uprooting them and taking them away from family and friends and putting them in an environment playing against 19-20 yr olds every game is a huge adjustment and sometimes doesnt work out...I still think the two drafts, immediately after each other would work best as that way we OHL fans could still have a chance of watching these NCAA commits eventually find their way to the best junior league around!
