ROOBROECK, DYLAN C – London Jr. Knights (MHAO) 6’3” 157

Dylan is a center with a good frame who regularly displays his puck handling creativity and offensive skill. At times he
can be hard to knock off the puck, hard to slow down, and hard to hit. He uses open ice to his advantage accelerating well to a nice top speed and keeps it for most of his shifts.

He has good puck control and vision which allows him to dipsy-doodle and eludes defenders with relative grace for a player of his stature. When taking aim on the net he has a heavy shot that’s accurate, but the release is a touch long. Although he is a shoot/attack first kind of forward he does have very good vision and distributes the puck well.

He does use his frame to his advantage as reaches with his stick and position his body well to gain possession. He easily breaks the puck out of his own zone and he’s hard to stop as carries the puck up ice. His play this season earned him several call ups to the Brantford 99ers in the OJHL and the London Nationals in the GOJHL.

Roobroeck is a versatile forward who uses his size and strength to force opponents into taking poor skating routes. He makes quick–accurate set up passes in the offensive zone and does a nice job drawing opponents to him to open up the ice for his teammates. He has a strong shot he can get off anywhere in the zone and is capable of scoring from further out.

As Saginaw is projected to have a high draft pick next year & we have no 1st rounder, maybe we wait to make a deal for Luca
until the Fantilli family decides what they want to do both this year & next year as well. At the very least, it gives is a card to play when the time is right.

Is JB up to the job & does he have the patience?

STRUTHERS, RYAN C – Oakville Rangers (OMHA) 6’0” 165
Ryan is a center with good vision that plays the game with pace and is always around the puck. His skating technique and edgework are one of the most intriguing parts to his game as he employs the new age 10-2 skating style. He’s solid at the faceoff dot, winning draws at a consistent rate. Defensively he’s sound, but at times will look to move to offense before his defensive task is complete. Ryan plays this year earned him a call up to the Oakville Blades in the OJHL, which should have given him a taste for what he’ll need to do in order to be successful at the next level.

FYI Ryan's brother is Matthew!

Throughout this season, he has evolved his play style from an average first line player in Oakville to an elite player at the level of competition within the SCTA. He elevated his game to become a deadly goalscorer off the rush and a quick one-time shooter on the power plays. Struthers could reach the next level as a powerful skater and a great shooter from both the perimeter and slot.
