The 2019-2020 season is going to be a true test of the fans’ loyalty and patience. There will be few ‘guaranteed win night’ games next year. If they go ‘all in’ on anything next year, I’m hoping it’s all-in on a commitment to play Christian Sbraglia as the starter, and Tucker Tynan getting loads of playing time, along with the 1st-rounder D from this past draft.
A Maksimov or Akil Thomas getting traded could help re-fill the cupboards, too

They have a Non Burke in place. Their Director of Scouting Roger MacLeod. Maybe if they let him have more influence then the team might progress. He has been in the organization a long time and knows the ropes. He has a great network and certainly would not get fleeced on trades the way Joey did. I do not know his coaching background but listening to him I think he might be of help to Billy as well

Can anyone expand on the roll Jody Hull was or did play this year? Was he to mentor BB & was he given
time/space to be a part of the management team? His roll next year? Does he have the cred & interest to stay on?

His job was associate coach my guess is his roll is/was the exact same as Ted Dents help BB out when he wants/needs it and be on the D door that includes handling the PK as for next year and beyond I’m sure he’d stay on unless a better job comes up (HC anywhere or something at the next step with an NHL organization)

Great job once again,
But'
I believe that there is one transaction by Joey that desires a mention here is the one that really pissed the London Knights big time when Joey picked Timothy Liljegren - RD in the 2017 import draft.

When reviewing his trades and draft history collectively, Joey Burke has had considerable success as a GM in the OHL. However, the two trades several feel Joey Burke overpaid on, perhaps can be looked at as 4 individual trades to decide if in fact the cost was too high.

The “First Trades”

Nov. 20, 2018
Traded: Billy Constantinou, Ian Martin, 2nd (2019, 2021, 2022, 2023), 3rd (2020, 2022, 2024), 5th,7th, 11th,13th
IceDogs acquired: Jason Robertson and Jacob Paquette.
Comparable Trade: TAYLOR RADDYSH (Tampa Bay) and defenceman JORDAN SAMBROOK (Detroit) traded for Hayden Fowler, 2nd - (2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023), 3rd – (2018, 2023) and 6th – (2018, 2021)

<>Trade 1: Billy Constantinou, 2nd - (2019, 2021), 3rd - (2020, 2022,), 7th, 11th
IceDogs acquired: Jason Robertson

<>Trade 2: Ian Martin, 2nd - (2022, 2023), 3rd - (2024), 5th,13th
IceDogs acquired: Jacob Paquette

As the trade stands at the moment, the IceDogs did give up a lot, but did acquire the league’s best forward – and the IceDogs best defenseman. However, still unsigned, the possibility that Paquette returns remains. If so, they’ll easily be able to recoup the picks used to acquire him – which would then make this final cost of the trade:

Traded: Billy Constantinou, Ian Martin, 2nd (2019, 2021), 3rd (2020, 2022), 7th, 11th
IceDogs acquired: Jason Robertson and Jacob Paquette

Final judgement on this trade maybe in what they are able to recoup in Paquette – and/or the value you place on the play of Robertson and Paquette this past season.

The “Other Trades”

What makes this trade sting (and extremely embarrassing) is the fact that IceDogs lost to Oshawa. That aside, if you breakdown this trade, the cost is par for the course.
The IceDogs will get a similar returns for Akil Thomas and Phil Tomasino – as Jack Studnicka got for Oshawa and Robert Thomas got for London.

Jan. 8, 2019
Trade: Lleyton Moore, 2nd – (2020, 2021, 2022) and 3rd (2022, 2023, 2024)
IceDogs acquired: Jack Studnicka and Matt Brassard.

<>Trade 3: Lleyton Moore, 2nd - (2020, 2021) and a 3rd - (2022)
IceDogs acquired: Jack Studnicka
Similar Trade: Robert Thomas was traded last year for Connor McMichael and 2 – 2nd and 1 - 3rd (which turned into another 2nd)

<>Trade 4: 2nd - (2022) and 3rd - (2023, 2024)
IceDogs acquired: Matt Brassard.
Similar Trade: Mattinen traded to Oshawa for 2nd and a 3rd

It comes down to this for me:

(A) we were never strong enough in goal to begin with .... scanning the potential top seeds in the East, all had far superior goaltending to us than Dhillon. Acquiring an upgrade in goal should have been the priority. If we couldn’t upgrade in goal than we shouldn’t of bothered with the other acquisitions ...

(B) Mattinen is far superior to Brassard IMO ... which makes me feel Brassard was an overpayment .... Brassard was a disappointment here IMO. They should have acquired Mattinen he was obviously still available at the time .

(C) I hope he is able to recoup all ... in theory he could .... but I don’t have confidence that he will be able to .... from the sound of it he’s burned some bridges and ruffled some feathers around the league .

(D) will Icedogs braintrust acknowledge they need to trade and replenish? Or will they try and keep their playoff streak in tact ... only time will tell on that one ... we’ve seen them make stupid player personnel decisions in the past (acquire Militec, not trade Strome and Ritchie) ... so who knows what the Burke’s will do ...

I hope only the worst for Paquette .... lol ... I truly hope he returns so we can trade him that would help a lot ... he was pretty solid for us here so it wouldn’t surprise me if he is signed.

Strohs, I completely agree with you. After watching the way Christian Propp and Kyle Keyser played in those series, the fault lies in the organizations belief that Dhillon could outperform the other goalies in the Eastern Conference (plus not adding a tough rugged player) - and not so much in the actual cost of those trades.
