Jackets Assign Legein To AHL Syracuse - it's official

| 14th April, 2008 - 4:41 pm | Press Release - The Columbus Blue Jackets have assigned right wing Stefan Legein from the Niagara IceDogs of the Ontario Hockey League to the Syracuse Crunch, Columbus’ American Hockey League affiliate, Blue Jackets’ General Manager Scott Howson announced today.
Legein, 19, collected 24 goals and 13 assists for 37 points with 80 penalty minutes and was +12 in 30 games with Niagara this season. He ranked fourth on the club in goals and tied for sixth in points, while his eight power play goals ranked third and four shorthanded goals were tied for second. He added 7-10-17 with 28 penalty minutes and was +6 in 10 playoff games to rank tied for second on the club in scoring. He missed 22 regular season games due to a shoulder injury suffered in the gold medal game of the 2008 World Junior Championships. In the tournament, he registered 1-1-2 with eight penalty minutes and a +2 plus/minus rating in seven games. He served as an alternate captain for Team Canada and helped the squad win gold for the fourth consecutive year.
The Blue Jackets’ second pick, 37th overall, in the 2007 Entry Draft, Legein registered 43-32-75 with 115 penalty minutes and was +31 in 64 games for the IceDogs in 2006-07. He was selected to play in the 2007 CHL Top Prospects Game and represented the Eastern Conference at the OHL All-Star Game, winning the fastest skater competition at the event. The Oakville, Ontario, native has registered 77-59-136 with 333 penalty minutes and a cumulative plus/minus rating of +39 in 202 career OHL games. |
