Game Thread Niagara vs. Erie (Sun. Mar.4/2012, 2PM) Dogs lead OHL in GF/GA difference

I haven't checked every team, but in the GF/GA difference, the Dogs are +95. London is +94.

Tomorrow (Sunday) we play the team with the worst GF/GA difference, Erie, who are -143.

Erie handed us our last loss.

We are by far the best defensive team in the league. Our 156 GA is 11 better than 2nd place London's 167.

Another interesting stat: Erie is by far the LEAST penalized team in the league. Just goes to show (yet again) that PIMs have nothing to do with wins/losses. How many times are the top teams also some of the most penalized.

Erie has only 803 PIMs this year. 69 less PIMs than 2nd place Niagara (872 pims).

So yes, Sunday's game is the Best of the East vs. the Worst of the West, and also the 2 least penalized teams in the league, and also the highest goal +/- team in the league vs. the worst goal +/- in the league.

The power was out at the jack tonight the Falcons moved their playoff game to the four pad anyone knows if they got the poer back on and how is the ice. If it is a go I imagine Erie will put Williams in net against us

williams got hurt friday. he came on in relief in the 1st period after sadikov got the hook. sadikov was back in for the 3rd though as Williams had an injury

expecting sadikov in net. he was great vs guelph making over 40 saves in a win but looked really bad friday night in the 1st vs saginaw.

sadikov played well enough in the 3rd, ot and shootout to get erie a point there. erie trailed 7-4 headed into the 3rd friday and came back to force ot. otters lost in the shootout. on tuesday, the spirit also blew a lead. they were up 2 goals with 10 to go in the game and lost

Wow. This is embarrassing.

I'm not saying the Dogs should do it, but if *I* owned a team, and this kind of amateur circus show was put on in front of 3000 of *my* paying fans...? I'd offer a refund. Or at least a complimentary ticket. I'd tell everyone in attendance that there current ticket would be good for a future game of their choice.

It's not our side's fault - it's Erie's. They came into the building of the best team in the league with only 1 goalie. No backup.

As Ed Burkeholder pointed out, playing the game against a skater dressed as a goalie is even more embarrassing to watch then just going home due to one team forfeiting.

A couple years ago I'd be shocked to see this level of non-professionalism occurring at this level, but after seeing how this league is more resembling of a traveling circus show then an organized hockey league, I'm not surprised at all. My bar of expectations for this league has dropped so low that stuff like what's happening in the game right now isn't surprising at all.

More embarrassing is that we could only get 3 goals past a forward dressed as a goalie. A Forward dressed as a goalie who missed most of the year to injury, and against the worst team in the league. the IceDogs should be ashamed of their play that period. And if it is due to them going lightly on Erie because of the goalie situation, they should be even MORE ashamed.

Now, who can tell I'm fed up?

sadikov taken out of the game about a minute and a half in...friesen making contact, didn't look malicious

no backup dressed or even in the building for erie, so F Connor Crisp now in goal...3-2 dogs after 1

dogs over-passing a little bit as they seem to be taking it easy on the otters' tender

on a side note, on thenoof.com, the reaction is so anti-icedogs it's not even funny. people calling the icedogs classless, advocating for contact against festarini, and already people (who I'm sure aren't watching the game) calling for Friesen to be suspended for 'running' Sadikov...if Branch suspends Friesen it would be a travesty

I agree with all your saying AlphaDog!!

I'm watching the game at home as i worked and i was shocked when i seen all of this going on. Well I wouldn't personally suspend him myself, but from what i've seen going on in the league i believe that is the end of Alex.Friesen career as i think Branch will suspend him for the rest of the year! ( I really hope not as i don't think he ment to hit him.)
Musy be tough to try and get into the game for the Icedogs from the way they are playing. Finally starign to put the puck past the Forward goalie for Erie.
Well will check back here to see the final score can't watch the Ice dog game anymore. (Sorry)

Friesen had his head down looking for the puck going to the net...I don't think he even knew how close he was to the goalie...if he gets any kind of suspension it shouldn't be more then two games...Bassin should be suspended for not having a backup dressed...that is the real travesty..what a Mickey mouse operation.

I agree with what you are saying , he was looking back and really didn't mean to run into him. I'm just saying the way the OHL/Branch has suspened people i wouldn't be surprised if they did suspend him. So many people get up in arms over hits and stuff that it wouldn't surprise me one bit if they did.

I DON'T THINK HE SHOULD BE AT ALL!

I still can't get over they we're allowed to play the game without a back up goalie ready to go in case something did happen.
